High Court Halts BMC Demolition of Chandanbala Derasar Amid Massive Devotee Protest

MUMBAI, NATIONAL, GPN / SACHIN MURDESHWAR 📞 8108510506: Today, on Thursday, 16.04.2026, the BMC issued a notice to the Mahavir Swami Jinalaya – Chandanbala Derasar, managed by Shri Bherulalji Kothari Religious Trust, and initiated action to demolish it on grounds of alleged illegality.

In protest against this action, thousands of devotees gathered in the derasar surroundings (परिसर) and began performing religious observances through penance, chanting, and recitation of mantras.

With the relentless efforts of the Sangh’s shravaks and shravikas, Acharya Bhagwants, devotees, as well as the trustees of Shri Bherulalji Kothari Religious Trust, Adhyatma Parivar, and community leaders, the matter was taken to the High Court.

In the High Court, the bench of Hon’ble Shri Milind Jadhav strongly reprimanded the BMC and granted a stay order on the demolition of Chandanbala Derasar.

This positive decision by the authorities has brought a sense of relief, happiness, and joy across the entire Jain community.
