MUMBAI, GPN/ SACHIN MURDESHWAR 📞8108510506: A courtesy visit was paid to the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Jishnu Dev Varma, at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. On this occasion, the Governor extended his warm congratulations and best wishes on being elected to the Rajya Sabha for the third time. Gratitude was expressed for his kind wishes and encouragement.
During the meeting, the Governor was invited as the Chief Guest for the upcoming 80th Foundation Day of the People’s Education Society, an institution established by B. R. Ambedkar. The invitation also included participation in the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Award 2026 ceremony.
On behalf of the Republican Party of India, a five-point memorandum highlighting key issues concerning Dalits, underprivileged, and marginalized communities in Maharashtra was submitted to the Governor. The memorandum includes important demands such as providing 500 sq. ft. housing for slum dwellers, granting Scheduled Caste status to converted Buddhists, restoration of reservation in promotions, providing land ownership rights to the landless, and immediate filling of backlog vacancies in government jobs.
The Hon’ble Governor held a positive discussion on these issues and assured that appropriate action would be considered.
