Orchids The International School introduces astronomy curriculum across India

The curriculum will be taught to students from Grades 3 to 10

MUMBAI, 6 JANUARY, 2023 (GPN): In times when a mainstream curriculum is deemed inadequate for acquiring exposure to all future career options, Orchids The International School has recently introduced the Astronomy curriculum. The school chain will be teaching the subject to students from Grades 3 to 10.

For smooth execution, a Central Astronomy Team has been formed, which consists of seasoned astronomers and educators who have carefully crafted a curriculum that focuses on the theoretical and observational aspects of astronomy. The goal of the curriculum is to provide the ideal environment for gaining an understanding and interest in astronomy. The primary mode of conducting the sessions will be inside a mobile planetarium. Apart from this, students will also be involved in various model-making activities that focus on ‘how it works’. Additionally, the students will be taken on stargazing trips that will acquaint them with the wonders of the night sky.

Speaking on the launch Jimmy Ahuja, Astronomy head, Orchids The International School said, “Astronomy as a subject plays a significant role in the larger community of scientific studies. Thus, it is vital that the children get familiar with the subject. For this, we are utilizing world-class facilities to help students learn more about the cosmos and space. We use 6-inch and 8-inch Newtonian telescopes during field trips through which students can observe planets, clusters, nebulae and even galaxies. This program will make learning astronomy far more engaging than simply reading textbooks.”Ends GPN SM
