HAPPY 76th INDEPENDENCE DAY 
India celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

1. President Kovind addresses nation on eve of 75th Independence day; calls upon citizens to imbibe motto of ‘Har Kam Desh Ke Naam’ as a mantra.
2. President praises Corona warriors, Doctors, Nurses & Health workers for their services during pandemic.
3. PM Modi will lead the Nation in celebrating this historic 75th Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi. He will hoist the National Flag and deliver the customary Address to the Nation. After being hoisted, the Tricolour will receive a ‘Rashtriya Salute’. The Navy Band, consisting of 16 men will play the National Anthem during hoisting of the National Flag and the ‘Rashritya Salute’.
4. Prime Minister declares 14th August as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day (विभाजन विभीषिका स्‍मृति दिवस) to be observed every year.
5. PM Modi had launched ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ from Sabarmati Ashramat Ahmedabad in Gujarat in March 2021 to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence. The celebrations will continue till August 15, 2023.
6. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), India in collaboration with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a GMR Group-led consortium, organised FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN 2.0 at the Delhi Airport to commemorate 75th Independence Day.
7. NITI Aayog has released a handbook to guide state governments and local bodies to frame policies and norms towards setting up charging networks for electric vehicles.
8. PM Modi conveyed best wishes to writer and historian Baba Saheb Purandare on entering the 100th year of his life. Speaking at the celebration to mark the Centenary year of Baba Saheb’s life through video conferencing. Balwant Moreshwar Purandare, popularly known as Babasaheb Purandare is a writer and theatre personality from Maharashtra.
9. The Bombay High Court on Saturday ordered an interim stay to the operation of clauses 9 (1) and 9 (3) of the new Information Technology Rules, 2021, for digital media pertaining to adherence to a Code of Ethics.
10. Govt hikes caps on airfares, increases capacity to 72.5%.
    Airlines can now sell more seats on domestic routes and charge higher fares, the civil aviation ministry said.

14. Meera Mithun, the actress-model has been arrested by the Chennai crime branch on August 14, Saturday. She was arrested by the crime branch for passing casteist remarks against the Dalit community, in a video that went viral on social media.
15. Assistant Sub-Inspector Babu Ram and Constable Altaf Hussain Bhat of Jammu and Kashmir Police were on Saturday posthumously conferred with the Ashoka Chakra and the Kirti Chakra awards respectively on the eve of the 75th Independence Day.

While the Ashoka Chakra is India’s highest peacetime gallantry honour, Kirti Chakra is the second in order of precedence of peacetime gallantry awards.

16. The Defence Acquisition Council headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh including the Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Bipin Rawat and three Armed Forces Chief are expected to clear several major projects for the Armed Forces on 15 Aug (Independence Day’s evening).
17. President Ram Nath Kovind has approved 144 Gallantry awards to Armed Forces, police and paramilitary personnel on the eve of Independence Day. These include one Ashok Chakra, one Kirti Chakra, 15 Shaurya Chakras, four Bar to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 116 Sena Medals (Gallantry), five Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry) and two Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).
18. India’s First Homemade Aircraft Carrier Passes Its First Big Test :. Indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC), INS Vikrant, has successfully completed its first sea voyage.

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has invited online applications from the interested and eligible candidates to fill up 480 Technical & Non-Technical Trade Apprentices for Southern Region. 3. The naval army of India and Saudi Arabia started their first-ever joint exercise on 12 Aug 2021, named the Al-Mohed Al-Hindi Exercise. In a sign of growing defence ties between the two nations.
4. The Indian Navy participated in the U.S. Navy-led Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) military exercise in Singapore, to demonstrate its maritime manoeuvres. The main objective of SEACAT 2021 was to enhance the interoperability and shared maritime security concerns and preserve rules-based international order. The exercise comprised approximately 400 personnel and 10 ships.SEACAT was held for the first time in 2002.
5. The 20th edition of the exercise was organised by the U.S. Navy, in Hybrid format, and included 20 other partner nations from the Indo-Pacific region, including India. Other countries participating in the exercise include Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

1. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) of Bangladesh has arrested three more persons in connection with the vandalism & attack on the temples and houses of the minority Hindu community in the Shiali villages under Rupsha upazila of Khulna district on 7 August.
2. The US Navy’s aircraft carrier Gerald R Ford has successfully withstood an impact trial test of underwater detonation of 20 tonnes of explosives, which observers say could effectively reduce the threat posed by China’s “carrier killer” missiles.
3. US, India and China among 12 nations decide not to recognise any Afghanistan govt imposed by force. They have decided that they would not recognise any government in Afghanistan that seeks to take control through the barrel of a gun.
4. Taliban sweep across Afghanistan’s south; take four more cities including Ghor:Taliban insurgents have seized Afghanistan’s second- and third-biggest cities as resistance from government forces crumbled, stoking fears that an assault on the capital Kabul could be just days away.
5. Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani held a coordination meeting on Saturday attended by US Chargé d’Affaires Ross Wilson and US forces commander and both vowed support to Afghan forces.
6. A strong earthquake 7.2 Magnitude killed at least 29 people in Haiti on 14 Aug (Saturday), in the latest challenge to a Caribbean nation still recovering from a devastating 2010 quake. The epicenter of the quake was about 125 kilometers (78 miles) west of the capital of Port-au-Prince , the U.S. Geological Survey said.

1. President Ram Nath Kovind Over A Cup Of Tea With Olympians at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 14 Aug. The team, including stars of Tokyo 2020 like athlete Neeraj Chopra and Badminton ace PV Sindhu, gathered for the event held on the eve of India’s 75th Independence Day.
2. A 54-member, largest ever Indian contingent was given a formal and virtual send-off to Tokyo Paralympic Games by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.
3. Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 flagged off from Gateway of India Mumbai, 40 NSG Commandos participated.

Thirty-two Olympic winners, including javelin thrower Subedar Neeraj Chopra, India’s first ever Gold Medalist in track and field, along with two Sports Authority of India (SAI) officials have been invited to participate in the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Around 240 Olympians, support staff and SAI and sports federation officials have also been invited to grace the Gyan Path in front of the Ramparts. In Tokyo, India recorded its best-ever medal haul in the Olympics by bagging a total of seven medals – one Gold, two silver and four bronze.

British PM Clement Atlee on February 20, 1947, announced that the British rule in India would end by June 30, 1948, which would result in powers being transferred to a responsible Indian. This declaration was trailed by the Muslim League’s agitation and demanded the partition of the country..

On July 5, 1947, the British Parliament passed the Indian Independence Act. It accommodated two territories states: India and Pakistan The head of the state was retained by the King of Britain until the full transition to Republic state.

Mountbatten was the reason behind choosing August 15. Because it was the second anniversary of Japan’s surrender,” during World War Second…As quoted in Freedom at Midnight.
Thus, this day was of symbolic significance for the Britishers.

India is not the only country that celebrates Independence Day on August 15, there are other nations that also mark the date as a ‘national day’. Bahrain, North Korea, South Korea, and Liechtenstein. which also experienced British colonial rule, declared its independence on August 15.

HOW RUBBER IS MADE

Natural rubber is made by extracting a liquid sap, called latex , from certain types of tree. There are over 2,500 types of tree that produce this sap, but the overwhelming majority of latex for rubber production stems from the Hevea brasiliensis tree,

Latex is gathered from the trees by making a cut in the bark and collecting the runny sap in cups. This process is called tapping .

In order to prevent the sap from solidifying, ammonia is added . Acid is then added to the mix to extract the rubber, in a process called coagulation . This can take about 12 hours.

The mixture is then passed through rollers to remove excess water. Once this is complete, the layers of rubber are hung over racks in smokehouses or are left to air dry. Several days later they will then be folded into bales ready for processing.

Firstly, chemicals are added to the rubber to make it stable. Without this, the rubber would get brittle if it got cold or become sticky during high temperatures. Commonly, a carbon black filler is added to the rubber mix, to improve its strength and durability.The rubber is then carefully mixed together and allowed to cool, before being shaped. It can be shaped by pushing it into rollers, called calendering, or by squeezing it through holes to make hollow tubes, known as extrusion. In 18th century rubber making was introduced.

Why Indra is not worshipped? Why there are no temples of Indra? Why Hindus do not worship Indra?

In the Vedas, Indra is considered to be the King of Devas and the one who lives in Swarga (heaven). The word Indra comes from ‘Indriyan’, the senses.It is said that Indra is not the name of a person, but a position, a chair.

Devas referred to the external world of nature and culture (Prakriti and Sanskriti).Like: Vayu, Varuna, Surya, Sagara, Bhoomi, etc.. God referred to the internal world of Atma, mind, and soul.

This indicates that during those times, there is a shift from the outer world of Vedic tradition (Devas) to the inner world of Puranic tradition (God). To protect his seat at heaven, he use to disturb yagnas and tapasyas of sages and other people. (Eg: Vishwamitra), he was also got curse from Gautam Rishi for committing adultery with Rishi wife Ahaliya. That’s the reason he has not given the importance and ignored him from pujas.

He has married to Shachi, also known as Indrani or Pulomaja. Indra and Shachi have a son, Jayanta, and daughters called Jayanti and Devasena. Goddess Jayanti is the spouse of Shukracharya, while goddess Devasena marries the war-god Kartikeya. He is also depicted as the father of Vali in the Ramayana and Arjuna in the Mahabharata respectively.
