Mumbai Court Petition Seeks Global Hunt for Geneva-Based Accused Amit Mehta (54) in Alleged Sexual Assault Case

Accused Amit Mehta, 54, resident of Geneva, Switzerland

MUMBAI, NATIONAL, 20 AUGUST, 2026 | GPN: In the case involving the alleged rape of a 36-year-old woman, the Santacruz police filed an A-summary report before the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Bandra, last month. However, the victim’s lawyer has filed a petition seeking the issuance of Red Corner and Blue Corner Notices against the accused, Amit Mehta, 54, who resides in Geneva, Switzerland. Meanwhile, the police issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Mehta on May 22. The incident allegedly occurred in April 2025, and the case was registered on April 27, 2025.

According to the FIR, the complainant, who resides in Andheri West and operates a production house, was introduced to Mehta through a female friend. The friend allegedly told her that Mehta, a senior officer with an international bank, had arrived in Mumbai from Geneva and could provide her with investment advice. She subsequently organised a dinner at Juhu. Her friend had known Mehta for around three years.

On April 6, 2025, at around 9.30 pm, the complainant and her friend went to meet Mehta. They had dinner at Mahesh Lunch Home and discussed various matters. Mehta then allegedly told the complainant that he wanted to speak to her. After dropping her friend at Bandra West, Mehta and the complainant went to Juhu Beach for a walk.

According to the FIR, at around midnight, they were walking behind a five-star hotel on Juhu Beach and discussing investments. The complainant alleged that at around 12.30 am, Mehta sexually assaulted her. She further alleged that she was frightened, left the car and took an auto-rickshaw to return to her residence.

The complainant told the police that she did not disclose the incident to anyone at the time as she was under pressure and fear. She later approached the Santacruz police and lodged a complaint.

The police registered a case on April 27, 2026, under Sections 64(1) (punishment for rape), 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

On 15 July 2026, she addressed a detailed apology letter to the Senior Police Inspector at Santacruz Police Station explaining why, in the immediate aftermath of the assault, she had not been emotionally able to face a medical examination, and reaffirming that she was ready and willing to undergo the test.

The complainant has also alleged that her medical examination was not conducted. According to her, although she made herself available for the examination, it was repeatedly postponed or not conducted, and no clear reason was communicated to her. She has raised concerns over the delay, claiming that it affected the investigation and reflected a lack of seriousness in pursuing the case.
