Initiative with Sri Mandir app expands access to authorised pujas and traditional offerings for devotees across India and worldwide.  

KANGRA HIMACHAL PRADESH, JULY 2026 | GPN: Ahead of the auspicious occasions of Shravan and Navratri, the Kangra District Administration, in partnership with Sri Mandir app, has expanded digitised temple services across two more temples in Kangra. The initiative enables devotees across India and the world to participate in authorised pujas and make traditional offerings remotely while preserving the sanctity and traditions of these sacred institutions.

Designed to make temple services more accessible, the expansion is particularly benefiting senior citizens, NRIs, young professionals, persons with disabilities and devotees who are unable to undertake a pilgrimage due to financial, professional or geographical constraints. Every service offered through the Sri Mandir app is conducted in close coordination with the respective temple authorities, ensuring that traditional rituals continue to be observed with authenticity.

Following the successful rollout of digitally enabled Puja and Chadhava services at Shri Bajreshwari Devi Temple and Shri Chamunda Devi Temple, which witnessed encouraging participation from devotees across India, the initiative has now been extended to Shri Baijnath Temple, an 800-year-old Shiva temple renowned for its Nagara-style architecture, and Shri Mahakaal Temple, a revered medieval-era shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva that is believed to bestow peace and spiritual liberation upon devotees.

The two pilot temples collectively enabled nearly 60,000 devotees to participate in authorised digital Pujas and offer traditional Chadhava through the Sri Mandir app. At Shri Bajreshwari Devi Temple, devotees from Maharashtra accounted for approximately 27% of participation, followed by Delhi-NCR (23%), Uttar Pradesh (19%) and Karnataka (10%), reflecting the growing demand for digitised access to Kangra’s revered temples beyond geographical boundaries.

The digitised services have particularly benefited senior citizens, NRIs and devotees who are unable to undertake a pilgrimage due to health, professional, financial or geographical constraints. Through the Sri Mandir platform, devotees can participate in authorised pujas and make traditional offerings in close coordination with the respective temple authorities, ensuring that traditional rituals continue to be observed with authenticity.

An official of the District Administration Representative said, “Kangra is home to some of India’s most revered temples and an enduring spiritual heritage. Through the responsible use of technology, we aim to make these sacred institutions more accessible to devotees who are unable to visit in person, while showcasing the district’s rich cultural and religious legacy to a wider audience.”
