MUMBAI, GPN/ SACHIN MURDESHWAR 📞 8108510506: The photography competition organised by the Education Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) provided a valuable opportunity for municipal school students to capture the diverse facets of nature through artistic expression. Viewing the photographs submitted by winners and participants, especially those taken by school students, was a delightful experience, said BMC Education Committee Chairperson Rajeshree Shirvadkar. She suggested that the Education Department should consider organising the initiative on a larger scale in the future, given the artistic perspective demonstrated by the students.

The prize distribution ceremony for the open photography competition themed “My Mumbai” was held on April 9, 2026, at the Triveni Sangam Municipal School auditorium in Curry Road.

Among those present at the event were Primary Education Officer Kirtivardhan Kiratkudve, Deputy Education Officers Mukhtar Shah and Kisan Kekare, Art Principal Dinkar Pawar, jury photographer Manoj Musale, teachers, participating students, municipal staff and photographers.

An exhibition featuring selected photographs from winners and participants in the Open Category, Municipal Employees Category, and Municipal School Students Category was also organised during the event.

In the Municipal School Students Category, Mohammed Najeeb Mahiyuddin, Akash Sahani, and Ayesha Khan secured first, second, and third place respectively. The winners were awarded cash prizes of ₹2,000, ₹2,000, and ₹1,500 along with mementos.

Encouragement prizes of ₹1,000 and mementos were awarded to Martand Pitale, Vishnu Sahani, Alfiya Ansari, Aniket Verma, and Suraj Maurya in the same category.

In the Municipal Employees Category, Amol Pawar, Prashant Kamble, and Shaheen Sheikh secured first, second, and third place respectively, receiving cash prizes of Rs5,000, Rs4,000, and Rs3,000 along with mementos.

Encouragement awards of Rs 2,000 and mementos in this category were presented to Dinesh Rikame, Santosh Yadav, and Ujjwala Jadhav.

In the Open Category, Vijaykumar Gohil, Sanjay Shukla, and Manthan Tambe secured first, second, and third place respectively, receiving cash prizes of Rs5,000, Rs4,000, and Rs3,000 along with mementos. Encouragement prizes of Rs2,000 and mementos were awarded to Sayali Madkaikar, Darshan Mali, and Sachin Gopal Bharankar.
