MUMBAI, GPN/ SACHIN MURDESHWAR 📞 8108510506: A case has been registered at Nagpur’s Koradi police station for giving wrong information on social media about the ownership of thousands of acres of land in the names of senior BJP leader and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and his family members. It is being claimed that this entire incident happened due to a mistake in measuring hectares and acres.
A person named Rameshwar Darekar had alleged through a Facebook post that Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and his family own as much as 1147 acres of land. This created a stir. This post went viral in the state. Many people expressed angry reactions to it. As a result, a wrong image was created in the society about the Bawankule family. Finally, a case was registered against Rameshwar Darekar under Section 78 (1) (ii) and 356 (2) of the Indian Penal Code 2023 at Koradi Police Station late on Friday night.
What did the complainant claim?
The case has been registered on the complaint of Nikhil Ramchandra Ingle. In a video circulated on Facebook, Rameshwar Darekar had claimed that 1147 acres of land were in the name of Revenue Minister Bawankule and his family. This video was widely shared between March 31 and April 3. Due to this claim, the wrong message was sent to the society and the Bawankule family was defamed, Nikhil Ingle has said in his complaint. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case and started an investigation under the leadership of Police Inspector Ganesh Dhumal.
As per the official certificate issued by the Tehsildar, Kamthi office, the total land in the name of Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and his family is only 28.44 acres. This land is registered in various villages and survey numbers. As a result, the claim of 1147 acres is completely wrong and misleading.
The mistake was caused by a mistake in calculating hectares and acres.
On the other hand, RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar has speculated that this incident happened due to a mistake in calculating hectares and R. A case has finally been registered at Koradi police station for spreading misleading information on social media about Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and his family owning thousands of acres of land. In fact, it seems that there must have been some mistake in calculating hectares and R in this regard. Vijay Kumbhar has said that this may have happened due to a mistake in reading hectares instead of R.
