The installation will be on view from January 31 to February 8, 2026, at the David Sassoon Library and Reading Room, Mumbai.

The Dance of Balance is a cantilevered sculptural installation that examines equilibrium as both a physical condition and a societal idea. It reflects the fragile equilibrium that sustains public life. Drawing from the idea of the scales of justice, the work considers balance as an ongoing negotiation between individual voices and the collective whole.

When Art Moves into the Public Eye: Perception, Access, and the Everyday City

An exploration by artist and designer Vibhor Sogani on how art transforms public spaces through everyday encounters, reshaping experience and collective meaning over time.

The Kala Ghoda Art Festival is one of India’s most significant multidisciplinary cultural platforms, bringing together visual art, architecture, design, performance, and public discourse within Mumbai’s historic arts district.

The installation is hosted at the David Sassoon Library and Reading Room, a Grade I heritage structure and one of Mumbai’s most important cultural landmarks- and is an opportunity to present a work that speaks directly to civic balance, participation, and collective consciousness.. Built in the 19th century, the neo-Gothic building has long stood as a space for learning, dialogue, and public engagement. Presenting The Dance of Balance within this historic setting creates a layered dialogue between contemporary sculpture and the city’s architectural and intellectual legacy.
