MUMBAI, 8 OCTOBER, 2025 (GPN): The Rotary Club of Bombay Uptown (RCBU), in collaboration with the Interact Club of Queens Necklace Mumbai (ICQNM), recently launched ‘Light for Learning’, a community initiative led by Nirvaan Phophalia, ex-President of the ICQNM and current Rotaractor RCBU with the support of Dr. Arti Sharma, Club President of RCBU and Abhilasha Rajoria of ICQNM.

The initiative seeks to build awareness of solar energy and use of solar lamps in rural areas facing electricity cuts and shortage. The project on 4 October 2025 covered schoolchildren in grade 10 of ‘Madhyamik Vidyalaya’, in the rural area of Hamarapur in Maharashtra. Students were provided solar lamps and taught about solar energy so that they can use the lamps during power cuts.

By combining access to technology with knowledge-sharing, ‘Light for Learning’ empowered the children with the tools and awareness to embrace cleaner energy solutions, reinforcing Rotary’s vision of sustainable development and equitable access to education.
