MUMBAI, 28 AUGUST, 2025 (GPN): A prominent temple located in the heart of Mumbai managed by the followers of Shree Samsthan Gokarna Partagali Jeevottam Muth of the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community buzzes with activities during the 10 days of Lord Ganapati festival, The presiding deity here is of Lord Shree Ram with Lakshman and Mata Sita Devi. Embedded in the heart’s of GSB Community and all devotees of Shree Ram this place is popular as Shree Ram Mandir, Wadala
The temple organises many religious festivals round the year, Ram Navami Mahotsav being the most prominent among them. Last year to celebrate pran prathisthan of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya the temple had organised various religious programmes which include abhishek by sacred waters from nine rivers in Maharashtra, a maha mangal aarti, prasad distribution and a shobha yatra procession.
The G.S.B. Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Samiti, one of the oldest GSB Ganpati, proudly marks its 71st year this time. The 11 Day Ganeshotsav is held from 27 August till 6 September 2025 this year.
Every day, thousands of devotees visit here for darshan and prasadam.
Remarkably, the entire event is managed by dedicated volunteers, handling everything from the pooja to the mahaprasadam.
Since 1955, people from all sects congregate at Dwarakanath Bhavan in Mumbai for this mega festival & G.S.B. SARVAJANIK GANESHOTSAVA is being celebrated with grandeur and delight.
“Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava continues to be a socio-cultural activity cutting across the barriers of religion and caste which serves as a platform for social bonding and “National Integration. Suvarna Durva Arpan Seva is a ritual performed to the beloved Bappa at GSB Ram Mandir, Wadala during the 11 days of Ganeshotsav celebration “Suvarna” refers to gold, “Durva” refers to a sacred grass used in rituals, and “Arpan Seva” signifies the act of offering or presenting. In this seva, devotees offer gold-plated or gold-colored durva grass to our Bappa,” said Ulhas Kamat, President of the mandal.This seva is believed to be auspicious and can bring blessings and prosperity added Mukund Y. Celebrating it’s 71 years this is one of Mumbai’s oldest and most prominent Ganpati Pandals. The lord Ganesha murti is adorned with real gold and is so very beautiful adored by one and all, said Umesh A. Pai, President, Celebration Committee. The ever increasing popularity and the success of our Ganeshotsava Celebrations is undoubtedly due to the unstinted ‘TANA-MANA-DHANA’ support of patrons and sevadars, he added.Thousands of people come here for darshan daily and can also get to experience a delicious South Indian bhog made fresh everyday by special temple chefs in their mega kitchen.
The Mahaprasadam is satvik which is so heartwarmingly delicious and served twice a day. The Maha Aarti is completed at around 1pm after which people queue up for lunch at Annaporna dining hall.
The banana leaf sapad has several items like Rice, Upkari, Avial, Mooga Randai (Lentils Curry), Aloo Sabzi, Rassam, Ghassi, Gajbaje, banana fritters, Aachar and Payasam (The spread is more on weekends and Anant chaturdashi).
