MUMBAI, 12 AUGUST, GPN/ SACHIN MURDESHWAR / M – 8108510506: The annual Kawad Yatra held in Chandivali during the holy month of Shravan witnessed a massive turnout of devotees chanting “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bam Bam Bhole”.

Organised under the leadership of Shiv Sena MLA Dilip (Mama) Lande, the yatra aimed to uphold Hindu culture and traditions. Accompanied by devotional DJ music, firecrackers, and saffron-themed decorations, the procession began from Sheetal Talao and proceeded via Kajupada Pipeline to the Shri Shambho Mahadev Temple on Sunday, August 10.

As every year, this year’s event also drew enthusiastic participation. Thousands of North Indian women dressed in saffron sarees carried sacred pots (Kalash) to offer water to Lord Shambho Mahadev, while hundreds of men in saffron kurtas carried Kawads. The procession featured tableaux of Hindu deities including Lord Shiva, Shri Ram, and Hanuman. Holy water was specially brought from the sacred city of Kashi for the ritual bathing (Jalabhishek) of the deity.

Speaking at the event, MLA and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Dilip Lande said the yatra not only demonstrated saffron strength and devotion but also expressed support for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the BJP-Shiv Sena-led state government. “We pray that Lord Shambho Mahadev blesses Chandivali’s development,” he added.

The yatra saw the presence of former corporator Shaila Lande, youth leaders Pranav Lande and Prayag Lande, North Indian Association Chandivali President Ramprasad Dubey, Secretary Bhaskar Singh, Women’s Taluka President Sarita Mishra, along with a large number of Shiv Sena leaders, office-bearers, and workers.
