Dramatist Jaywant Dalvi’s small theatre naming ceremony concluded

Natakkar Jaywant Dalvi Laghu Natyagruh Launch

Fans of playwright Jaywant Dalvi got justice after 24 years with the naming ceremony of ‘Natakkar Jaywant Dalvi Laghu Natyagruh’

MUMBAI, 17 JULY, 2025 (GPN) – The mini theatre at Prabodhankar Thackeray Theatre in Borivali West has been named “Dramatist Jaywant Dalvi Small Theatre“. The naming plaque was inaugurated by Padma Shri Madhu Mangesh Karnik.
In 2001, even before the inauguration of the Prabodhankar Thackeray Theatre, a large number of local people, led by Dr. Harish B. Shetty, President of Maharashtra Manav Seva Sangh, had demanded that this small theatre be named after Jaywant Dalvi, but due to politics, it could not be done.
Currently, in collaboration with Konkan Marathi Sahitya Parishad, Mumbai District Library and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, this small theatre has been named “Natakkar Jaywant Dalvi Laghu Natyagruh“.
On the issue of Hindi Marathi language, Padma Shri Madhu Mangesh Karnik said that this is a part of politics. I am a literary person, I am a Marathi man, I am a Marathi writer, he expressed his thoughts by saying Jai Marathi.
