MUMBAI, 11 NOVEMBER, 2024 (GPN): BJP MLA Parag Shah is seeking another term amid growing calls for change in a seat that the BJP has controlled for over 30 years. With high-rise developments rapidly transforming the neighbourhood, residents face challenges such as parking, traffic congestion, water shortages, and pollution. Parag Shah, who previously served as a corporator, is confident in his track record and the BJP’s continued support from the electorate.

BJP candidate Parag Shah suddenly met  Bharatiya Janata Party former minister Prakash Mehta, who was willing to contest from Ghatkopar assembly constituency seat, on Saturday evening.  Parag Shah, the candidate of Ghatkopar East of the BJP grand alliance, recently fell and injured his leg during the election campaign.  He is campaigning in a wheelchair as he has to undergo surgery.  Parag Shah visited former minister Prakash Mehta’s house and the Mehta family honored him by inquiring about his health.  In this meeting, Prakash Mehta and Parag Shah have reconciled.  The next day, Parag Shah and Prakash Mehta were seen on the same platform of the Jain community, sitting aside and talking.  With Mehta and Shah coming together, it is being discussed that the seat of Mahayuti has strengthened in Ghatkopar East.

The campaigning of Mahayuti candidate Parag Shah of Ghatkopar East Assembly Constituency has started campaigning on a wheelchair and has completed all necessary work and development in the constituency.  Parag Shah was taken to the hospital when his leg slipped while leaving home for election campaign.  His left leg was completely fractured.  After the doctor’s examination, he was told to undergo surgery on his leg.  Meanwhile, when Parag Shah was asked about the accident, he said that doctors have advised him to rest for a month.  As there are only a few days left for campaigning, they are campaigning in wheelchairs.

Speaking to GPN, MLA Parag Shah said, My team and I are working for the community round the clock, and our commitment remains constant.” Emphasising the work already done, Shah explained that he established a complaint redressal system via WhatsApp to swiftly address local issues. He noted that, on numerous occasions, his team resolved matters before authorities could even intervene.Shah acknowledges that the redevelopment of Ramabai Colony, Maharashtra’s third-largest slum, has been a pressing issue for decades. “When I first ran for office, Ramabai Colony and Kamraj Nagar residents expressed hope for redevelopment,” Shah shared. With an estimated 40,000 to 42,000 families needing housing, he noted that it’s a monumental task that requires government intervention. The redevelopment project, already underway, is expected to unfold in three phases, with the first phase of 16,000 homes completed. Shah remains committed to ensuring that the promises made to the residents of Ramabai Colony are kept, adding, “I am closely following this project to ensure it is completed efficiently and respectfully.” Ends.
