Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)
NATIONAL, 21 MAY, 2024 (GPN): EaseMyTrip.com, one of India’s leading travel tech platforms announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) to join the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This move positions EaseMyTrip into committing to this transformative initiative by ONDC. The ONDC initiative, launched by the Government of India in 2021, aims to create an open, inclusive, and competitive digital commerce ecosystem. It lowers entry barriers for small businesses and promotes a level playing field in the e-commerce sector.

The LOI was signed at the ‘ONDC Startup Mahotsav,’ organised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), ONDC and Startup India. The ONDC Startup Mahotsav, held on 17 May 2024, at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, marked a significant milestone in India’s digital commerce journey. The ONDC Startup Mahotsav was held in collaboration between the Startup india initiative and the Open Network for Digital Commerce.The Mahotsav under the aegis of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade witnessed the participation of over 5000 startups in hybrid mode. The Department informed that 12 Unicorns and over 125 startups committed to onboarding ONDC network.
Indian unicorns CARS24, Zerodha, EaseMyTrip.com, and Livspace, along with over 125 other startups, have committed to joining the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This initiative, following the ONDC Startup Mahotsav event, underscores ONDC’s growing influence, marked by 7.2 million transactions last month, and aims to enhance digital commerce in India.

Over 125 start-ups and over 20 unicorns, including EaseMyTrip, participated in the event. The ‘ONDC Startup Mahotsav’ brought together around 5,000 start-ups in hybrid mode, and featured panel discussions and a masterclass on enabling start-ups on ONDC.
