NATIONAL, 22 JANUARY, 2024 (GPN): As the nation gears up to welcome the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Sadhguru, Founder-Isha Foundation, talks about the Ram Temple being a symbol of civilisational reclaim. “Ram and Ramayan have been so much a part of the Indian ethos that it is almost like a resurrection of a damaged national spirit,” he says.

“Rama’s entire life – from the loss of his kingdom and his wife to his later travails, when he gives up his wife again, and almost slays his own offspring – can be seen, in terms of events, as a serial disaster. And yet, his ability to remain equanimous through it all makes him exceptional even today,” Sadhguru adds.

Talking about Rama’s relevance in current times, he explains, “People worship Rama not because of the success in his life, but for the gracefulness with which he conducted the most difficult moments.”

Commending the resilience of the people, Sadhguru highlights, “The people have been waiting for Ram Temple for over 500 years, so there’s a tremendous excitement in the country. The whole movement has been handled by ordinary people in the country. Look at the resilience, look at the spirit, and look at the patience of people.”

Sadhguru has been invited by the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust to the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. However, due to his prior commitments, he will not be able to partake in the ceremony.

All Leaders Should Do Anushthana Upon Rama

Impressed by PM Modi’s decision to do an 11-day anushthana (a set of code including penance and purification) upon Rama, Sadhguru says, “It is very heartening to see that Narendra Modi, the elected leader of Bharat, this great crucible of civilization, is doing anushthana upon Rama, who is held as the epitome of a just and stable leader. Not just one leader, but all leaders and citizens of Bharat should engage in anushthana to create a just, stable and prosperous Bharat. This is Rama Rajya.”

Ram Rajya Is The Future Of The World: Sadhguru

Expounding on the need for Ram Rajya in Bharat, Sadhguru underscores that Rama rose to the stature of God because he is considered the best king. “Rama’s administration was supposed to be the most compassionate and most just administration ever. And in many ways, the time of Rama became a kind of a fulcrum to build this civilization in these 6,000 years. The best administered and absolutely just state means “Ram Rajya”. Even today, when we say Ram Rajya, we mean to say a very just and fair state, not an exploitative state, not a tyrannical state, and that’s what we want to make out of India. For that, you need Rama,” Sadhguru concludes.
