Sadhguru Academy holds the inaugural edition of “Family Enterprise Excellence” – a first-of-its-kind 4-day program designed to address various challenges faced by family-owned businesses and unlock their potential, at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore on Thursday.

COIMBATORE, 15 DECEMBER, 2023 (GPN): Business ethics, wealth management, resolving the generation gap, the role of women in business and the rise and rise of Artificial Intelligence- Sadhguru, Founder-Isha Foundation, fielded a potpourri of topics from participants in the inaugural edition of Family Enterprise Excellence– Mapping the Future of Your Business hosted by Sadhguru Academy at the Isha Yoga Center. The four-day program designed exclusively for leaders in family businesses got underway at the Yoga Center on 14 December and will end on 17 December.

First, second, third and fourth generation leaders of several family businesses have gathered for the program that aims to delve into the unique challenges and opportunities that family businesses offer and how leaders can equip themselves to spot and capitalize on the opportunities. The four-day program will also explore topics such as conflict resolution, succession planning, and leveraging youth and experience in running businesses.

Responding to a question on the role of women in business, Sadhguru said that in this culture, women always handled the finances and the wealth of the family “because there is an emotional bond where there’s no question of misuse.” Sadhguru said that though “it should not be mandatory that all women should participate in [the family] business”, merit and competence should never be shortchanged by gender which should not be a consideration in selecting a competent candidate for any role or function.

Speaking extensively on the advent and rise of Artificial Intelligence, Sadhguru stated that “AI is going to come much faster than most people can even imagine,” and that this presented an opportunity for human beings to also evolve as technology evolves. “What is it that human intelligence or genius can do? Within yourself, you need to identify that. If you don’t identify that, in the next five years, you will be redundant,” he said.

Shri M V Subbiah, former Executive Chairman of Murugappa Group and his son Shri Vellayan Subbiah, Chairman of Cholamandalam Investments and Finance Company Limited and Managing Director of Tube Investments of India Ltd. will share their insights, wisdom and experience with participants over the next three days. Shri Vellayan Subbiah is the fourth-generation leader of the family’s business. They will be joined by Shri Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman and MD of Kirloskar Brothers Limited and his daughter Rama Kirloskar, Joint Managing Director and Managing Director of Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Ltd. and fifth generation leader in the business. They will share with participants the multigenerational journey of one of the largest and most successful family enterprises in India, the Kirloskar Group.

The program is hosted by Sadhguru Academy, formerly known as Isha Leadership Academy. It is facilitated by Shri M.S.
