HYDERABAD, 26^th  OCTOBER, 2023 (GPN): After the remarkable response to the World Food Day celebration last year, Akshayakalpa Organic organised the second edition of ‘Forgotten Foods – Let’s rediscover the roots’ – a specially-curated, fully immersive hands-on experience of food, nutrition and nature for the occasion of World Food Day at the Akshayakalpa Farm in Hyderabad on 21^st October 2023. The event saw a footfall of about 200 individuals, coming from different walks of life including families and organic food enthusiasts.

“Food plays a significant role in our daily lives, and it is easy to overlook the essential contribution of our farmers who provide us with this vital sustenance. Therefore, we are honouring and celebrating our farmers on this World Food Day,” commented Mr. Shashi Kumar, Co-Founder and CEO of Akshayakalpa Organic.

“Our farm in Hyderabad, spanning 25 acres, is currently a work in progress, and we anticipate it will soon reach its full operational capacity. In line with our commitment, we are planning substantial resource investments to empower 300 farmers initially through this farm, underlining our dedication to fostering sustainable, organic agriculture and supporting the livelihoods of our farming communities. Hyderabad is a pivotal market for us, and with this farm coming into full operation, we anticipate expanding our Akshayakalpa product supply to 100000 households in Hyderabad, furthering our mission to provide high-quality organic products to a broader audience,” he further added.

The event was aimed to give visitors an immersive insight on the journey of organic food from the farm to the table. There were also several activities that kept the visitors engaged throughout the day. These activities included mud baths, paddy ploughing, home composting, clay modelling and tree climbing.

The highlight of the event was a talk on the Good Food Movement – an initiative that the brand has taken since its inception. The Movement is aimed at bringing attention to the organic food culture that is preserved by Akshayakalpa Organic. Ms. Vachana Shetty, Head of Marketing, Akshayakalpa Organic during the discussion on Good Food Movement at the farm said, “We, at Akshayakalpa Organic, take pride in advocating for another crucial facet of our ecosystem: carbon sequestration. On a global scale, soil carbon levels are disappointingly meagre. As a part of the ‘Forgotten Foods – Lets rediscover the roots’ initiative, Akshayakalpa Organic has organized a similar event in Chennai followed by the finale event in Bangalore in the following week, taking forward the World Food Day celebrations.
