 New packaging launched to protect farmers from counterfeits.

MUMBAI, 14 JUNE, 2023 (GPN): Godrej Agrovet Limited’s (GAVL) Crop Protection Business today announced that its biostimulant, Double, has completed 25 years of enabling better yield for Indian farmers. Double has treated ~3 Crore acres of Indian farmland and brought prosperity to the lives of ~2 Crore farming families over the last 25 years. The company also launched a celebratory pack marking 25 years of Double and its commitment to better farming in addition to protecting farmers from counterfeit products. 

Double’s new pack is user-friendly and comes in a safe packaging bottle. It has a tamper-evident seal which blasts open and falls when anyone tries to open the bottle. The label has complex watermarks to avoid duplication and the bottle also has a hologram – a unique 9-digit code on each and every bottle to ensure authenticity. While the hologram also has smartly embedded letter ‘G’ to assure the customer that the product is genuine, ‘Braille’ marking on the neck reading danger has also been added for the visually impaired.

Double, a biostimulant, reduces flower drops and fruit shedding in cotton, soybean, groundnut and vegetable (tomato) crops. Flower drops and fruit shedding impacts farmers’ yield by 15%-25%. Proper farming practices, coupled with the right dosage of Double, can aid farmers in increasing their yield. In Cotton, Double aids in better fertilization, thereby enabling better seed setting (a key developmental stage in the process of seed formation) and stronger pod (a rounded mature fruit) foundation. On average, two applications of Double aid in enhancing yield by 18%-20%. Similar application of Double on Soybean and Groundnut crops helps the crop overcome the fertilization barriers, reduces flower dropping, and improves pod setting resulting in increase in yield by 30%-35% and 10%-12% respectively. For Tomato, it helps improve the viability of the pollen and improves flower-to-fruit conversion, resulting in reduced flower dropping and more fruits per plant, uniform size, color and improved fruit weight by 15%-18% depending on the crop.

Commenting on 25 years of Double, Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director, GAVL said, “Double was launched with an objective to help farmers increase yield of their crops. GAVL started working extensively on Homobrassinolide (HBR), a raw material for Double, in 1992. Witnessing its role in improving cell division and cell elongation in crops, the company launched Double in 1998, enabling farmers to leverage its benefits. In addition to reducing flower drop and fruit shedding, a biostimulant like Double also aids in enhancing a crop’s ability to withstand biotic and abiotic stresses. 

Abiotic stress includes temperature, ultraviolet radiation, salinity, floods, drought etc, which impacts crop plants while biotic stress refers to damage caused by insects, herbivores, fungi, bacteria or weeds.

Burjis Godrej, Executive Director, GAVL highlighting the importance of biostimulants said, “70% of yield gap globally is dictated by climate change. In India too, soaring temperature and erratic rainfall continue to impact crop yield and favor weed & pest proliferation. The global and Indian biostimulant market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11.8% and 12.5% respectively by 2031. India is one of among the few countries around the world to define a separate regulations for biostimulants. With the unorganized biochemical sector, worth ~INR 1,640 Cr, being one of the fastest growing subsectors, the guidelines released in 2021 mandates manufacturers to label the products to include chemical composition and expiry date, as well as mandatory prior registration with the government.

Commenting on the importance of regulation, Rajavelu N.K, CEO, Crop Protection Business, GAVL said, “A farmer invests in a crop protection product with a hope of achieving optimum yield from their crop. With 85% of Indian farmers being small and marginalized, it is imperative to provide them a quality product which is genuine and easy to use. Hence, while setting up the regulation is a first step, there is a need for industry-wide collaboration to create awareness amongst the farmers by educating them on the benefits surrounding usage of authentic product in appropriate and recommended quantity.”

The new packaging of Double is aligned to the guidelines laid down by the government and convenient to use.

मुंबई, 14 जून, 2023 (GPN): गोदरेज एग्रोवेट लिमिटेड (जीएवीएल) के क्रॉप प्रोटेक्शन बिजनेस ने आज घोषणा की कि इसके बायोस्टिमुलेंट, ‘डबल’ ने भारतीय किसानों के लिए बेहतर उपज को सक्षम करने के 25 साल पूरे कर लिए हैं। डबल ने लगभग 3 करोड़ एकड़ भारतीय कृषि भूमि का उपचार किया है और पिछले 25 वर्षों में लगभग 2 करोड़ कृषक परिवारों के जीवन में समृद्धि लाई है। कंपनी ने डबल के 25 साल पूरे होने और किसानों को नकली उत्पादों से बचाने के अलावा बेहतर खेती के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता को रेखांकित करते हुए एक विशेष पैक भी लॉन्च किया।

डबल का नया पैक उपयोगकर्ता के अनुकूल है और यह सुरक्षित पैकेजिंग बोतल में आता है। इसमें एक टैम्पर-एविडेंट सील है जो बोतल को खोलने की कोशिश करने पर फट जाती है और गिर जाती है। नकलीपन से बचने के लिए लेबल में जटिल वॉटरमार्क हैं। और बोतल पर होलोग्राम भी है – जो विशिष्ट 9-अंक के कोड के रूप में है। यह प्रत्येक बोतल पर मौजूद है ताकि प्रामाणिकता सुनिश्चित हो सके। जहाँ होलोग्राम में ग्राहक को आश्वस्त करने के लिए स्मार्ट तरीके से ‘G’ अक्षर भी डाला गया है कि उत्पाद वास्तविक है, वहीं नेत्रहीनों के लिए बोतल की नेक पर ‘ब्रेल’ लिपि में डेंजर अंकित किया गया है।

डबल एक बायोस्टिमुलेंट है जो कि कपास, सोयाबीन, मूंगफली और सब्जी (टमाटर) की फसलों में फूलों और फलों का झड़ना कम करता है। फूलों और फलों के गिरने के चलते किसानों की 15%-25% तक उपज प्रभावित होती है। उचित तरीके से खेती करके और सही मात्रा में डबल का प्रयोग करने से, किसानों को उनकी उपज बढ़ाने में मदद मिल सकती है। कपास की फसल में, डबल बेहतर निषेचन में सहायता करता है, जिससे बेहतर तरीके से बीज का विकास (बीज निर्माण की प्रक्रिया में एक महत्वपूर्ण विकासात्मक चरण) और मजबूत फली (एक गोल परिपक्व फल) सक्षम हो पाती है। औसतन, दो बार डबल के प्रयोग से उपज को 18% -20% तक बढ़ाने में सहायता मिलती है। सोयाबीन और मूंगफली की फसलों पर डबल के समान प्रयोग से फसल को उर्वरीकरण बाधाओं को दूर करने में मदद मिलती है, फूलों का गिरना कम होता है, और फली लगने में सुधार होता है जिसके परिणामस्वरूप उपज में क्रमशः 30% -35% और 10% -12% की वृद्धि होती है। टमाटर के लिए, यह पराग की व्यवहार्यता में सुधार करने में मदद करता है और फूल-से-फल रूपांतरण में सुधार करता है, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप फूलों का गिरना कम होता है और प्रति पौधे अधिक फल, समान आकार, रंग और फसल के आधार पर फलों के वजन में 15% -18% तक सुधार होता है।

डबल के 25 वर्ष पूरे होने पर प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त करते हुए, जीएवीएल के प्रबंध निदेशक, बलराम सिंह यादव ने कहा, “डबल को किसानों को उनकी फसलों की उपज बढ़ाने में मदद करने के उद्देश्य से लॉन्च किया गया था। इसके लॉन्च के बाद से, हमने लगभग 2 करोड़ भारतीय किसानों के जीवन को सकारात्मक रूप से प्रभावित किया है और उपज में औसतन 18% की वृद्धि देखी है और इसलिए हमारे भारतीय किसानों की आय में वृद्धि हुई है। हमें विश्वास है कि डबल जैसा उत्पाद, यदि उचित मात्रा में और सही समय पर उपयोग किया जाता है, तो हमारे देश की खाद्य सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के अलावा किसानों को उनकी उपज और आय बढ़ाने में मदद मिलेगी।“

जीएवीएल ने 1992 में डबल के लिए कच्चे माल होमोब्रासिनोलाइड (एचबीआर) पर बड़े पैमाने पर काम करना शुरू किया। फसलों में कोशिका विभाजन और कोशिका वृद्धि में सुधार करने में इसकी भूमिका को देखते हुए, कंपनी ने 1998 में डबल लॉन्च किया, जिससे किसानों को इसका लाभ उठाने में मदद मिली। फूलों का झड़ना और फलों का गिरना कम करने के अलावा, डबल जैसा बायोस्टिमुलेंट फसल की जैविक और अजैविक तनावों को झेलने की क्षमता को बढ़ाने में भी मदद करता है।

अजैविक तनाव में तापमान, पराबैंगनी विकिरण, लवणता, बाढ़, सूखा आदि शामिल हैं, जो फसल के पौधों को प्रभावित करते हैं, जबकि जैविक तनाव से तात्पर्य कीड़ों, शाकाहारी, कवक, बैक्टीरिया या खरपतवार से होने वाली क्षति से है।

जीएवीएल के कार्यकारी निदेशक, बुर्जिस गोदरेज ने बायोस्टिमुलेंट्स के महत्व पर प्रकाश डालते हुए कहा, “वैश्विक स्तर पर उपज का 70% अंतर जलवायु परिवर्तन से तय होता है।[1] भारत में भी, बढ़ता तापमान और अनियमित वर्षा फसल की उपज को प्रभावित करती है और खरपतवार और कीट प्रसार को बढ़ावा देती है। यह ऐसी प्रतिकूल परिस्थितियों में है कि बायोस्टिमुलेंट फसलों की उपज बढ़ाने में सहायता करते हैं। वैश्विक और भारतीय बायोस्टिमुलेंट बाजार के 2031 तक क्रमशः 11.8% और 12.5% की सीएजीआर से बढ़ने की उम्मीद है। इसलिए, एचबीआर के दुनिया के सबसे बड़े उत्पादक के रूप में, हम जीएवीएल में भारतीय किसानों को उनकी फसल की आवश्यकता के अनुसार विभिन्न बायोस्टिमुलेंट की पेशकश करके उनकी सेवा करना जारी रखेंगे।”
