MUMBAI, 19th MAY, 2023 (GPN): Mr. Jayant Acharya is appointed as the Joint Managing Director & CEO of JSW Steel Ltd, a flagship Company of the diversified JSW Group. JSW Group is one of India’s leading Business Conglomerates with interests in Energy, Infrastructure, Cement, Paints, Sports, and Venture Capital.

Mr. Acharya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Physics from BITS (Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani, India), and an MBA degree. He began his career with SAIL (Steel Authority of India) and later joined JSW Steel Limited, a JSW Group company.

With over three decades of industry experience in the Metals and Mining sector, Mr. Acharya has played a pivotal role in the growth of JSW Steel. He has led various key transformations in Sales & Marketing., IT transformation, Digitalization efforts and focus on Sustainability and environmental measures.

Mr. Acharya has spearheaded overseas acquisitions in the USA and Italy for JSW Steel and secured coal and iron ore mines through auctions. He is an active voice in the Metals and Mining industry, participating in domestic and international forums to promote the use of steel in construction and advocate for sustainability.

Recognized for his contributions, Mr. Acharya has received accolades from institutions both domestically and globally. He serves as the Co-Chair of the committee on Steel and Non-ferrous metals for FICCI and is a Member of the Worldsteel Association. Based in Mumbai, he is a well-travelled professional.Ends
