Saksham 2023 – A fortnightly campaign by PCRA for fuel conservation inaugurated today  Monday 24th April 2023 in India would be observed till May 8 on the theme ‘Energy conservation towards net zero’/ ऊर्जा संरक्षण ‘शुद्ध शून्य’ की ओर ”.

Saksham 2023 aims to sensitise the masses to conservation and efficient use of petroleum products which will lead towards better health and environment. It also seeks to educate the people on how the efficient and optimal use of energy can protect the health and the environment.

NEW DELHI, 24 APRIL, 2023 (GPN): BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited) was honored for its unwavering commitment to energy conservation and achieving a Net Zero future by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) at the Delhi inauguration function of SAKSHAM 2023, a fortnight-long campaign that aims to highlight the adverse health and environmental impacts of increasing carbon footprints and encourage consumers to switch to cleaner fuels.This recognition is a testament to BPCL’s dedication to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

Shri Sanjay Khanna, Director (Refineries) of BPCL, received the citation on behalf of the organization from Shri Rameswar Teli, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment, in the presence of Shri Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MOP&NG), and other officials from MOP&NG.

Shri Santosh Nivendkar, State Level Coordinator for Maharashtra, was also felicitated during the event for conducting the maximum number of activities during the SAKSHAM campaign in the previous year. This highlights BPCL’s efforts in creating awareness and promoting sustainable practices among the masses.

During the event, Shri Rameswar Teli, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment, also reviewed BPCL’s Bharat Hi-Star Stove, which boasts a higher thermal efficiency of 74 percent compared to the normal LPG stoves available in the market.

This innovative and energy-efficient stove is another example of BPCL’s commitment to developing and promoting sustainable technologies.

These recognitions serve as a motivation for BPCL to continue its hard work and dedication towards achieving its important goals of energy conservation and a Net Zero future. BPCL expresses its gratitude to everyone who has supported the organization along the way.

State Level Coordinator, Delhi, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited along with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), Indian Oil Corporation Limited and other Oil & Gas Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) hosted the inaugural function of a dynamic campaign titled SAKSHAM from 24th April 2023 to 8th May 2023, with the theme ‘ऊर्जा संरक्षण- नेट ज़ीरो की ओर’।, to sensitise the masses about the conservation and judicious usage of petroleum products towards achieving the twin objectives of keeping health and environment safe along with securing energy resources for the future generations.

The campaign was kicked off on April 24, 2023, in a function inaugurated by Honourable Minister of State, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Rameswar Teli, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. During the inauguration ceremony, the Honourable Minister emphasised the importance laid by the government towards energy conservation and accelerated adoption of green and renewable energy.

Shri Pankaj Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas administered the oath to conserve oil and gas to the gathering. He also emphasised the importance and relevance of net zero. He further explained the importance of various kinds of fuel that will aid in the energy transition.

During SAKSHAM 2023, Oil and Gas Companies have planned to organise various environment-friendly activities including Cyclothon, Walkathon, Fuel Saving Concerts, Mega Driver Training Workshop, Training Programme for LPG Delivery Boys, PUC Check, Group Talk, etc.

At the end of the programme, the Chief Guest, along with the Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas also flagged off a publicity van carrying the message of energy conservation towards net zero.

On this occasion, more than 200 school children and Oil and gas company officials from PCRA, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, GAIL, ONGC, OIL and IGL were present.

Multiple activities and mass campaigns will be conducted during the course of SAKSHAM 2023 (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav) in different cities of the country.
