Le Meridien New Delhi has commenced its celebrations with a customary lighting of the Christmas Tree in the hotel lobby.

NATIONAL, 18 DECEMBER, 2022 (GPN): It’s time to enjoy the Christmas cheer! And the magic of Christmas never ends when you’re in the company of your beloved friends!

Starry Slopes, the 2022 installation of the Christmas tree in the lobby of Le Meridien New Delhi, unfolds yet another great work of art that is not only an expression of the hotel’s creativity but also is a testimony of its love for the community. The bespoke bamboo and recycled paper installation celebrates the festivities with the community. The hotel’s continued efforts towards sustainability always ensure to avoid the use of imported plastic decorations and supporting ‘handmade in India’. 

The installation has been designed by a young artist, Nehmat Mongia and has been created by bamboo craft artisans from Titarpur, who are adept to work with traditional techniques of bamboo art, in collaboration with blind girls from the National Association for the Blind for Blind Women and Disability Studies. This was a tactile project for them, which encouraged them to develop their skills and build confidence.

Le Meridien New Delhi believes that festivity will never be complete without lending their hands to the community and hence the hotel partnered with some inspiring Not for Profit organisations, with whom the hotel shares a vision of bringing the joys of festive celebrations to the weaker sections of the community.

Dr. Kiran Modi, Founder of Udayan Care was present to unveil the Christmas tree in a ceremony that opens the festive activities. The event was full of activities for children, Christmas carols and craft workshops. “Being here at Le Meridien New Delhi to unveil the sustainable Christmas tree is a great experience. It is a wonderful gesture of the hotel’s gratitude for our work and it is only possible because the hotel shares the same concern for the community at large as we do.  I am sure together with our collaborative approach we can continue to build on social impact” said Dr. Kiran Modi.

The magnificent tree stands tall and bright in the hotel lobby, an unmissable piece of craft open for viewing till 30th dec’21.
