KFC’S INDIA SAHYOG PLEDGES TO SUPPORT 1000 LOCAL FOOD BUSINESSES BY 2024

Supports 100 restaurants in Mumbai; extends program to lend support to another 500 restaurants in the next 2 years.

Mumbai, 15th November, 2022 (GPN): After successfully supporting local restaurants in Bengaluru, Delhi Hyderabad and Kolkata, KFC’s India Sahyog program announced its next chapter for Mumbai. The Mumbai chapter was inaugurated at the KV auditorium, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), in the presence of representatives from partner organizations.

As part of the program, the brand will work with 100 local restaurants and food joints in Mumbai, helping them in business revival through training modules in food safety & hygiene, customer service, profitability and more. KFC’s India Sahyog program was launched in 2020; and is conducted in association with the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and the Food Safety and Training Certification (FoSTaC) program of FSSAI; and aims to support 500 restaurants across the country by the end of 2022.  

Speaking about the continued effort to augment the growth of the food industry in India, Moksh Chopra, General Manager, KFC India, said, While the food industry has been recovering post-pandemic, many small food businesses are still reeling under the impact. As part of our India Sahyog program, we have been working with FSSAI & NRAI over the last two years, to support 400 independent restaurants across Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. With the Mumbai chapter, we will support 100 local restaurants in the city. Sensing the need to continue supporting the local food industry, we are extending our pledge to support 500 more such businesses, targeting to work with 1000 local restaurants by 2024.”

KFC has been continually making efforts to grow the local food industry in the country. In the past, KFC India and FSSAI have pioneered a street food vendor, training over 1500 street food vendors across 4 states on food safety parameters. Additionally, the brand also undertook a Food Safety Officers capability enhancement program along with the State Food Safety Authorities.
