Haryana Govt and Dubai ink an MoU for Economic Cooperation- The government of Dubai has sealed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Govt. of Haryana for collaboration in a variety of economic activities for the Haryana Govt. ICICI Bank has introduced Smart Wire service, a novel approach to make SWIFT-based inward remittances easier and faster for its customers. According to ICICI Bank, the first bank in the nation to introduce such a service, the Smart Wire Service will enable both NRIs and local clients to conduct inward remittance transactions electronically and without the use of paper.

The National Security Guard (NSG) is hosting the Multinational Joint Anti-Terror Exercise (JATE) under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) at NSG Manesar Garrison. Stage 1 of the exercise was conducted from 27th July to 1st August 2022 by the National Terrorist Forces of SCO Members Countries in their respective territories.

India and US announced the launch of a new energy task force to support the large-scale integration of renewable energy needed to support the clean energy transition. The announcement will strengthen the India-US partnership in the critical energy sector to new levels. There was also a bilateral meeting between Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, after which the announcement was made.

Government and LIC to divest 60.72% share in IDBI Bank: The government announced that it and LIC would sell a combined 60.72 percent share in IDBI Bank in order to privatise the banking institution. In order to be qualified to bid for IDBI Bank, the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) stated that potential investors needed to have a minimum net worth of $22,500 crore and net profits in three of the previous five years.

At the 36th National Games, Pooja Patel of Gujarat has become the first athlete to win gold in Yogasana. Yogasana is one of the five sports to be played at the National Games this year for the first time. This Indian indigenous sport made its debut at the Khelo India University Games earlier this year. Till date overall Services Sports Control Board is leading the chart with a total of 113 medals, including 51 gold, 33 silver, and 29 bronze. Haryana is second on the table with 95 medals (31 gold, 29 silver, 35 bronze), followed by Maharashtra (119), Karnataka (84), and Tamil Nadu (67). Maharashtra has fewer gold medals than Haryana, which is why it has been placed third on the table.

Pakistan has confirmed that it will attend the Shanghai cooperation organisation’s anti-terror exercises in India. Pakistan, which is a part of SCO will take part in counter-terror drills in Haryana’s Manesar in October. These exercises will be conducted under the ambit of the SCO regional anti-terrorism structure (RATS).

India’s space economy is likely to be worth nearly $13 billion by 2025, with the satellite launch services segment set to witness the fastest growth due to increasing private participation, according to a report released . India has of over 100 space tech start-ups with investments in the segment touching $68 million in 2021. Several companies are utilising cutting-edge technologies to develop innovative launch solutions in India and have built considerable expertise around the launch of LEO, MEO and GEO satellites and orbit management solutions. “The launch segment is fast becoming a key focus area for start-ups and small and medium businesses (SMEs) in India to drive the innovation agenda and make use of new revenue opportunities,” the report said.

  1. India Cements announced that it has entered a pact with JSW Cement to divest its entire stake in Springway Mining Pvt Ltd (SMPL). Informing the stock exchanges, India Cements said that the total consideration for the deal was ₹476.87 crore.
  2. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal attended the Listing Celebration of the 400th company in the BSE SME Platform in Mumbai.
  3. The Ministry of Coal has issued Allocation Order for 12 Coal Mines. The cumulative Peak Rated Capacity (PRC) of the 12 coal mines for which orders have been issued is 21 million tonnes per annum and Geological Reserve is 2300 million tonnes.
    • The Coal Mine Development and Production Agreement was signed on August 17. The mines are expected to generate annual revenue of ₹3,569 crore and attract capital investment of ₹3,208 crore.
  4. Reserve Bank of India cancels the license of Pune-based The Seva Vikas Co-operative Bank Limited as the lender does not have adequate capital and earning prospects.
  5. Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) on Monday said the vehicle retail sales in the country rose 57% during the Navratri festival this year. According to FADA, India reported a record sales of nearly 5.4 lakh vehicles between September 26 and October 5, 2022. Two-wheeler retail sales in this year’s Navratri festival reported a growth of 52.35% to 3,69,020 units.
  6. The privatisation process of IDBI bank is expected to conclude by September 2023. The financial bids for the sale will be invited by March next year.
  7. Gross direct tax collection increases by over 23 % to Rs 8,98,000 crore in current financial year.
  8. The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has approved 14 projects worth Rs 1,145 crore. The projects include sewerage management, curbing industrial pollution, and biodiversity conservation.

Jayaprakash Narayan ( 11 October 1902 – 8 October 1979), popularly referred to as JP or Lok Nayak ( People’s Leader), was an Indian independence activist, theorist, socialist and political leader.

He is also known as the “Hero of Quit India Movement” and he is remembered for leading the mid-1970s opposition against Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, for whose overthrow he had called for a “total revolution”

In 1999, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, in recognition of his social work. Other awards include the Magsaysay award for Public Service in 1965.
