1. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said OPEC has a sovereign right to decide on the oil production capacities.

2. The government will begin its annual budget-making exercise for financial year 2023-24 on Monday. The meeting would start with consultations with various ministries and departments on the revised estimates (RE) of expenditure for ongoing financial year and the fund requirement for 2023-24.

3. French Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain said India could receive a chunk of the €300 billion (₹24.21 lakh crore) fund announced by the European Union under its Global Gateway scheme.

4. Minister of Co-operation Amit Shah said that Amul will be merged with five other cooperative societies to form a multi-state cooperative society (MSCS).

1. India will host diplomats from all the UNSC member states for a key meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) in Mumbai and New Delhi on October 28-29.

India is currently the Chair of the UN Security Council Counter- Terrorism Committee for the year 2022

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena met top executives from India and said “there is a need for further growth in bilateral trade and increased Indian investments in new areas,” according to his office. Indian CEO Forum-Sri Lanka called on Gunawardena at the PM’s Office on Thursday. He thanked Indian companies for their input and support to Sri Lanka’s economy.

1. North Korea fired two ballistic missiles early on Sunday, officials in Seoul and Tokyo said, making it the seventh such launch since Sept. 25.

3. The external power supply to the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was restored on Sunday. The plant had lost its last remaining line linking it to the power grid early on Saturday due to shelling.

5. Nobel Peace Prize 2022: Ales Bialiatski, a human rights defender from Belarus who is now incarcerated, Memorial, a Russian human rights organisation, and Center for Civil Liberties, a Ukrainian human rights organisation, have all been jointly given this year’s Nobel Peace Prize 2022.

The winners of the Noble Prize 2022 receive prize money of 10,00,000 Swedish Krona. The first award ceremony for Nobel Prize was held in 1901.

6. At least 185 people, including at least 19 children, have been killed in the crackdown on protests across Iran that were sparked by Mahsa Amini’s death, Norway-based Iran Human Rights Report.
