MUMBAI, 28th JULY, 2022 (GPN): As part of its bio-diversity series and on account of Nature , Tata Power, in association with Ela Foundation released their 4th book on “Amphibians of the Northern Western Ghats”, the first authentic photographic guide to all 52 species of amphibians in Gujarat, Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Maharashtra and Goa. The book was released by Mr. Vijay Namjoshi, Chief Generation-Tata Power in the presence of Mr. Prabhakar Kale, Chief Hydro ,  Mr. Parag Railkar, Chief Civil & Estate and members of ELA foundation and Tata Power.

This book is a joint publication of Tata Power and Ela foundation authored by Dr. Satish Pande with inputs from Mr. Vivek Vishwasrao and Prof Gram Purohit.

Book Highlights:

  • The book aims at the appreciation and conservation of neglected taxon;
  • It is the first authentic photographic guide to all 52 species of Amphibians from Northern Western Ghats of India including Gujarat, Diu, Daman, Dadra  Nagar Haveli, Maharashtra and Goa;
  • It includes recent taxonomy and scientific nomenclature;
  • Tips for identification have been provided
  • Includes endemic and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red list species.

Mr. Prabhakar Kale, Chief – Hydros Tata Power said, “This book will help researchers and academicians in carrying out their conservation projects, and will also help protect water bodies that are the natural habitat of the amphibians.”

This is yet another edition in a series of works released by Tata Power and Ela Foundation to highlight the rich biodiversity present in the western ghats of Maharashtra.-Ends.
