NATION PAYS TRIBUTE TO WORLD RENOWNED LATE LEGENDARY SINGER BHARAT RATNA LATA MANGESHKAR LOVINGLY CALLED AS LATA DIDI
MUMBAI, 06 FEBRUARY, 2022 (GPN): Global Prime News (GPN) dedicates this post as a tribute to the Late Great Legendary Singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar ji fondly called as Lata Didi by her admirers and fans worldwide, be it Celebrity, Filmstars, Cricketers, Politicians, Singers, Musicians, Philanthropist, Industrialist and VIP’s from all fraternity.
She was also the Didi (Elder Sister) of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who had administered her as his elder sister.

The singer’s funeral was held today in the evening at Shivaji Park with state honours, followed by two-day national mourning. Eight priests conducted the final rites of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. Blocks of sandalwood were placed at her body while the priests chanted the mantras. Her brother Hridaynath accompanied by his son Aadinath Mangeshkar lit the funeral pyre. She also received a gun salute during the last rites.Prominent personalities, led by President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi, mourned the passing away of singing icon Lata Mangeshkar.
PM Said, “I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerise people,” he wrote.
“Lata Didi’s songs brought out a variety of emotions. She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film world for decades. Beyond films, she was always passionate about India’s growth. She always wanted to see a strong and developed India.”
President Kovind Twitted, “Lata-ji’s demise is heart-breaking for me, as it is for millions the world over. In her vast range of songs, rendering the essence and beauty of India, generations found expression of their inner-most emotions. A Bharat Ratna, Lata-ji’s accomplishments will remain incomparable,”
“An artist born but once in centuries, Lata-didi was an exceptional human being, full of warmth, as I found whenever I met her… My condolences to her family and admirers everywhere,” he said in another post.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu also tweeted his condolences, saying that he is “extremely saddened” by Mangeshkar’s death. “India has lost its voice in the death of Lata ji, who has enthralled music lovers in India & across the globe with her mellifluous & sublime voice for many decades,” he added.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who visited south Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital earlier in the morning, said that Mangeshkar was “the pride of our nation”
“She took the country to greater heights, all over the world with her singing. Her voice was magical. Her loss is humungous, it’s a void for all of us. I visited the hospital and had her darshan. It’s the end of an era,” Gadkari told reporters.
From the film industry, actors Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan and filmmaker Hansal Mehta paid tributes to the singer.
Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, LK Advani and many Bollywood stars including Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Sonu Sood, Dia Mirza among others mourned her demise.
Following the announcement of a State Funeral, CM Uddha Thackeray has declared tomorrow, February 7, 2022, a public holiday in the State of Maharashtra to mourn the death of the legendary singer. All schools, colleges and offices are to remain closed.
Lata Mangeshkar is often also referred to as the ‘Nightingale of India’. Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhusan and Dadasaheb Plake Awards are just a few of the honours received by the veteran singer. She began her career at 13, after the death of her father, as an actor-singer in Marathi films. At the age of 15, her career soared to great heights after her song “Aayega Aanewala” from the film Mahal became a hit. Since then, she has been a prominent pillar in the playback as well as the Indian music industry.
With a singing career spanning over seven decades, she had captured the hearts of millions with her angelic voice. Ms Mangeshkar has over 30 thousand songs credited to her name in several languages.Ends
