MUMBAI, 6th FEBRUARY, 2022 (GPN): India’s legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away at the age of 93 on 6, February, Sunday. Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last at 8:12 AM at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital. The singer’s family will let friends and fans pay homage at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park.

“Chitralatika” an oil painting exhibition showcasing the journey of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar ji was inaugurated just yesterday on 5th February at P.L. Deshpande Art Gallery, Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi, Mumbai 400025.

Chitralatika will be open for art lovers and public from 11am to 7pm till 8th February 2022.

The veteran singer was admitted to a city hospital in early January this year after she tested positive for Covid-19 and was also diagnosed with pneumonia. Around January 28, she was taken off the ventilator, after she showed slight signs of improvement. However, on February 5, Lata Mangeshkar’s condition deteriorated and she was back on ventilator support. It had been 28 days of hospitalization.

Lata Mangeshkar lovingly referred to as the ‘Nightingale of India’ had stepped into singing at the age of 13 and recorded her first song in 1942. In her career spanning seven decades, she has to her credit over 30,000 songs in different languages. The 92 year old singer resided in Prabhukunj  building at Peddar Road in south Mumbai.

Lata Didi, as she is fondly known, is also a Bharat Ratna awardee. Her voice will echo in the hearts of citizens for years to come. India declares to observe two days national mourning as a tribute to the legendary Singer.
