An image of a label claiming that Dettol spray can kill corona virus is going viral in the social media. The post went viral as it was shared thousands of times, claiming that the manufacturers knew that the product can kill Corona virus, even before Corona virus broke out in China in December 2019.
The post features an image of the back label of a bottle of Dettol, a widely-available disinfectant brand sold by consumer goods firm Reckitt Benkiser. The label, which is dated October 27, 2019, claims the product “Kills E.Coli, Sammonella [sic], MRSA, Rotavirus, Flu virus, Cold viruses (Human Coronavirus and RSV).”
Fact Check:
Corona virus is a broad category of viruses which includes a number of different respiratory illnesses. One is the common cold, but the category also includes SARS, a acute respiratory disorder which broke out in 2002 and 2004 and the new coronavirus identified in Wuhan. The Human Corona virus mentioned on the label is NOT actually new Corona Virus or COVID 2019.
The website of Dettol gives a detailed report on Corona virus and how they are yet to study their products on the New Corona virus strain (COVID 2019).
They mention in the website that “Specific Dettol products have demonstrated effectiveness (>99.9% inactivation) against coronavirus strains from the same family as the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in third party laboratory testing, when used in accordance with the directions for use. These products are: Dettol Antibacterial Surface Cleanser Spray, Dettol Antibacterial Surface Cleanser Wipes, Dettol All-In-One Disinfectant Spray, and Dettol Disinfectant Liquid.
Given the structural similarities of the COVID-19 virus to the coronavirus strains tested previously (SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, Human Coronavirus), and based on the evidence available to us, we would expect our Dettol products (listed above) to be effective against the new strain. Definitive scientific confirmation of this, as with all other commercially available virucides, can only be provided once testing against COVID-19 Coronavirus has been conducted, following release of the strain by relevant health authorities.”

COVID‐19 and SARS coronavirus are similar and because it is becoming a big threat to human civilization as consequences, online awareness programs were initiated and conducted worldwide by WHO.Proper strategies and funds were set up by WHO globally to protect the countries with special focus to poor and weaker health infrastructure developing countries. The aim was to reduce the virus communication in society, dissemination of crucial information, providing proper healthcare and to minimize social and economical loss. WHO also focused on establishing an easy and effective diagnostic system to prevent infection.To prevent the infection socially, the lockdown was imposed globally, which resulted in the halt of all economic and social activity in society. This led to cease global supply chains badly resulting in the global economy in bad shape.In India, the Central Government also imposed a nationwide lockdown for the first time on March 22, 2020 and continued it up to till date, that is, on November 15, 2020.
Surprisingly the Covid-19 outbreak in China happened on December 2019 and on December 2020 China declared it’s first death of a 61 year old effected with Corona Virus and Covid-19 and in January 2020 it was at it’s peak in Wuhan City which was isolated from the rest of China province . Inbetween this period Big Trade Fairs By China took place all around the word and also in India wherein thousands of Chinese traders and delegates from Wuhan attended and participated in this trade fairs.
On February 11, 2020, WHO announced this coronavirus disease as COVID‐19 and pandemic on March 11, 2020, after reaching the virus infection to 114 countries across the world. Just before this on 10 – 12 Dec 2020 the biggest CHINA TRADE FAIR Machinex 2020 and CHINA HOME LIFE 2020 took place at Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) Goregaon and surprisingly lot’s of Covid- 19 affected Chinese participants, Exhibitors and delegates had spread this purpose full manmade virus in India (Mumbai) much ahead of it’s awareness, Why I say this because I myself and other media reporters had attended this biggest China Trade Fair in Mumbai. Just after 2 days of attending this fair a few reporters on December 13 developed acute breathlessness problem one close source was rushed to KEM hospital Parel, Mumbai that night and I am its witness, the reporter was chocking for breath he found as if his nasal passage was totally blocked and felt as if he is going to die. At around 2 am midnight in emergency OPD doctors at KEM did several test his Oxygen level was 78 when measured with pulse oxymeter. The doctor’s remarked that it was due to sinus problem as the Covid-19 awareness had not stepped in that time. They suggested Nasal decongestant, ENT cough decongestant Liuids gave a few injections and kept him in observation for several hours. He was feeling restless and gasping for breath most of time inhaling by mouth.The next day he went around one speacialist to another finally he got some relief from T-Levocitrizine tablets. His family also developed similar symptoms and took family doctors treatment for cold and flu before the awareness and hype built up in March 2020. In the temporary relief period during January 2020 he alongwith family visited abroad on leisure.I bring this case study to emphasize that this is how the pandemic had widespread just before is awareness there is sure temporary relief and life saving cure to this deadly virus but how far it impacts the human system is lesser known, the entire family of Covid -19 has got cured much before arrival of the predicted vaccine.Even lots of cases from Celebrities to Politicians and the Common public have survived after being hit by this syndrome. Why has the planned manmade Virus purposed for requires deeper penetration in to the subject.Simple medicines like anti-nasal congestants, anti allergy pills and cold -flu medicines has cured many Covid-19 patients who have undergone simple treatment from family doctors, but will this work in the long run is still a debated issue until permanent cure or vaccine is developed.
