1. Piyush Goyal takes over Paswan’s portfolios : Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been assigned additional charge of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, following the demise of Ram Vilas Paswan. Goyal is also Minister of Railways and Minister of Commerce and Industry.
2. NDA Result 2020 Declared; Union Public Service Commission has declared the UPSC National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Exam 2020 result 2020 on October 9. The result of NDA 2020 (1 & 2) is available in online mode on the official website- www.upsc.gov.in.
3. This year, NDA exam was delayed due to COVID19 outbreak. UPSC conducted the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) & (II) 2020 on September 6, in online mode. Final NDA merit list 2020 will be uploaded on the upsc.nic.in NDA result 2020 after SSB interviews.
4. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched Jagan Anna Vidya kanuka scheme. The state government has allocated Rs 650 crores for the scheme. Under the scheme the state government will provide school kits to 43.32 to lakh government school students.
5. The Union Cabinet has condoled the demise of Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan. Mortal remains of Ram Vilas Paswan flown to Patna; cremation to take place today . He was elected as a member of the 6th Lok Sabha from Hajipur constituency in 1977 by a record margin. Describing the LJP founder as the voice of the oppressed.
6. The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat recently launched Mukhyamantri Saur Swarojgar Yojana in Dehradun. The scheme promotes self-employment of the youth. It also promotes production of green energy.
7. WB CM Mamata Vs BJP: Tejasvi Surya to move breach of privilege motion after MPs manhandled : Will teach Mamata Banerjee’s police a lesson in Constitutional propriety, said Tejasvi Surya after BJP MPs were manhandled and said he will be filing a motion for breach of privilege. Surya said that Mamata’s police officers at Jarasanko Police Station manhandled three BJP MPs who had gone there to file an FIR against a crude bomb attack on BJYM workers.
8. The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested an employee of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) with its Ojhar unit in Nashik for allegedly supplying information on aircrafts including Tejas to his Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), a Pakistani intelligence agency, handler.
9. SVAMITVA Scheme: Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas. The main aim of the scheme is to provide the right to document residential properties to the rural population. It enables the rural population to use property as a financial asset.
10. News channel India Today has on Friday conceded that it was fined by ratings agency BARC, for what an OpIndia report claims was ‘viewership malpractice’ Rs 5 lakh, the channel has issued a press release on Friday, threatening BARC with legal action as it ‘leaked confidential hearings’.
11. Indian Railways ticket reservation rule to change from today. : Indian Railways will prepare the second reservation charts between 30 minutes to 5 minutes before scheduled/rescheduled time of departure of trains. Ticket booking facility, both online and on PRS ticket counters, shall be available, before preparation of second chart
12. The Director General of the Indian Meteorological Department Mrutunjay Mohapatra recently announced that the IMD is to launch “Impact based Cyclonic Warning Systems”. The system will help minimise economic losses and damages due to property in the intense weather system.
13. Hathras accused peddling lies: The accused in the Hathras case are peddling lies and trying to create different rumours around the incident in a bid to save themselves, the brother of the 20-year-old victim said
14. Ayodhya trust donations cross Rs 100 crore : According to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust, which is overseeing the construction of the temple, it has collected over Rs 100 crore in donations since the August 5 ‘bhoomi pujan’ ceremony.

Unlock 5.0: 7,000 Pilgrims Allowed To Visit Mata Vaishno Devi Daily: The state has given permission for inter-state travel without a pass and has allowed the bar and theatres to open doors from October 15 with a new set of guidelines. For Inter-state travel, the states have allowed entry without any restrictions. However, the school will remain shut till October 31.

17. Karnataka court on Friday ordered registration of a first information report against actor Kangana Ranaut for her now-deleted tweet on farmers’ protests over recently passed farm laws.
18. The Ministry of Defence has cancelled Reliance Naval and Engineering Ltd’s (RNEL) ₹2,500-crore contract to build naval offshore patrol vessels (NPOVs) for the Indian Navy, owing to delay in delivery of the vessels.
19. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has created a new record for the highest skydive landing at Khardung La Pass near Leh, touching down at an altitude of 17,982 feet, while commemorating its 88th Anniversary. Wing Commander Gajanad Yadava and Warrant Officer AK Tiwari carried out the successful skydiving jump from a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. The landing at such an altitude is extremely challenging due to low oxygen levels combined with low air density and rough and inhospitable mountainous terrain.
20. Rudram-1 taste fired: An anti-radiation missile called Rudram 1. Developed by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), the missile was tested at Balasore, off the coast of Odisha in the Bay of Bengal . The Missile has been generated to kill enemy radar. The Rudram missile can be launched from Sukhoi 30MKI fighter jets. It has speed of 2 mach. This is twice the speed of the sound.

1. The Nobel Prize for Peace, 2020 has been awarded to the World Food Programme . The WFP has been honoured with the prize for its role towards contributing better conditions for peace in conflict affected areas. It has been a driving force in preventing hunger in war zones.
2. Recently on Chinese National Day , Hong Kong police arrested several people for trying to gather and protest the National Security Law imposed in the semi-autonomous territory by Beijing on June 30 this year. Anti-government protests, which started in 2019 opposing an extradition bill for trial in mainland courts in certain cases, often turned violent.
3. China’s ‘all-weather ally’ has given it a digital shocker. Pakistan’s Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Friday reportedly blocked the Chinese app TikTok after the company failed to fully comply with instructions for “development of an effective mechanism for proactive moderation of unlawful online content.”

In 1024, during the reign of Bhima I, the prominent Turkish ruler Mahmud of Ghazni raided Gujarat, plundering the Somnath temple which was dedicated to Lord Shiva, and breaking its jyotirlinga. He took away a booty of 20 million dinars. This temple, as per the history, was destructed as many as 17 times. the present temple was reconstructed in Chaulukya style of Hindu temple architecture and completed in May 1951. The reconstruction was started under the orders of the Home Minister of India Vallabhbhai Patel and completed after his death.

3) मैं दस वर्ष का था जब एक बार पिता जी के साथ मुझे उनके एक मित्र के अंतिम संस्कार में जाना पड़ा!

श्मशान में सब लोग शव को घेरकर खड़े थे। मैं सबसे अलग थोड़ी दूर अकेला खड़ा था और समझने की कोशिश कर रहा था! तभी एक व्यक्ति मेरे पास आया और मुझसे बोला, “ज़िन्दगी का आनंद लो, खेलो कूदो और मौज करो, मैंने अपनी ज़िंदगी का मज़ा नहीं लिया!”

इतना बोलकर वो व्यक्ति मेरे सिर पर हाथ फिराकर वहाँ से चला गया!

तभी मेरे पिता ने आवाज देकर मुझे बुलाया और कहा, “आओ बेटा, मरने वाले के अंतिम दर्शन कर लो!”

मैंने मरने वाले का चेहरा देखा तो बुरी तरह से चौंक गया! ये तो उसी व्यक्ति का चेहरा था जो कुछ देर पहले मुझसे बात कर रहा था! मैं बुरी तरह डर गया!

उसके बाद बहुत दिनों तक मैं ठीक से सो नहीं सका! अक्सर रात को सपने में मुझे वो चेहरा दिखता और मैं डरकर जाग जाता! समय बीतता गया! कई डॉक्टर्स और मनोचिकित्सकों को दिखाया पर कुछ फायदा नही हुआ! कई साल बीत गए! फिर ऐसा कुछ हुआ कि मेरी बीमारी पूरी तरह ठीक हो गयी!

जब मुझे ये पता चला कि…

उस व्यक्ति का एक जुड़वा भाई भी है और वो ज़िंदा है!

पूरी ज़िन्दगी हराम कर रखी थी!

4)एक इंटरव्यू चल रहा था नौकरी पहले ही बॉस के रिश्तेदार के लिये पक्की हो चुकी थी लेकिन दिखावे के लिये इंटरव्यू तो लेना ही था!

इसलिये ऐसे सवाल पूछे जा रहे थे, जिनका कोई जवाब संभव नहीं था, एक के बाद एक केंडीडेट आ रहे थे, जा रहे थे! फिर पंजाबी  की बारी आयी!

इंटरव्यू लेने वाला: आप नदी के बीच एक बोट पर हैं, और आपके पास दो सिगरेट के अलावा कुछ भी नहीं है! आपको एक सिगरेट जलानी है, कैसे जलाओगे?

पंजाबी बड़े सीरियसली सोचने के बाद बोला, “सर इसके तीन-चार समाधान हो सकते हैं!”

How a how a seismometer works
