MUMBAI, 30 SEPTEMBER, 2020 (GPN): Luxury carmaker #MercedesBenz launched on Wednesday the performance SUV Coupé AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ at a price of Rs INR 1.2 Crore (all prices are ex-showroom, India, except Kerala).

The new model arrives as a replacement of the outgoing #GLE #AMG which was sold in the 43 AMG guise in India.

As per the automaker, the new model comes with the ‘Panamericana grille’ with vertical slats, 21-inch alloy wheels, turbo badging on the front fenders, and an AMG exhaust.

The dashboard gets dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and instrument cluster, with both running on Mercedes latest MBUX system.

For exteriors, the GLE 53 Coupe’s cabin gets some AMG-specific touches like the AMG flat-bottom steering, AMG front seats and stainless-steel pedals, to name a few. Buyers get two upholstery options to personalise the cabin with. Mercedes claims 650 litres of boot space that can expand to 1,800 litres with the rear seats folded.

The AMG gets 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine with twin-scroll turbocharging and F1 inspired 48 V EQ-Boost. It can achieve 435 horsepower and an additional temporary 22 horsepower and 250 Nn of electric output with a 0 – 100 km/h claimed in 5.3 seconds.

The new model is available in eight colour options, Brilliant Blue, Cavansite Blue, Emerald Green, Hyacinth Red, Mojave Silver, Obsidian Black, Polar White and Selenite Grey.

Commenting on the launch, Santosh Iyer, Vice-President, Sales &  Marketing  Mercedes-Benz India said, “The launch of the AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé is a strategic decision aimed at strengthening our AMG portfolio by introducing the much awaited ‘AMG 53 series’ in India.”
