Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan announces Rs 10 lakh compensation for kin of AIE plane crash victims for the families of those who died after an ill-fated Air India Express flight veered off the runway while attempting to land at the Karipur international airport and broke into two parts on Friday night.

The digital flight data recorder (DFDR) and the *cockpit voice recorder (CVR) have been recovered from the Air India Express plane at the Kozhikode crash site* in Kerala, an aviation regulator official said on Saturday. This information will help the investigation team to find out how the plane crashed.

8. The AIE flight(IX-1344) from Dubai with 190 people on board including a 6-member crew overshot the table-top runway on Friday night while landing at the international airport in Karipur, about 30 km from Kozhikode, in neighbouring Malappuram district and fell into a valley 35 feet below and broke into two portions. Of the 149 people who are injured and are in various hospitals, 23 of them are in critical condition while another 23 have been discharged after initial medical assistance.

9. Captain Deepak Sathe,(58) pilot of the ill-fated Air India Express flight who died along with 17 others after the plane crashed at Kerala’s Kozhikode airport, had planned to pay a surprise visit to Nagpur on his octogenarian mother’s birthday(84th) on Saturday. Today is the birthday of Capt Sathe’s mother . He had last met his parents in March and was constantly in touch with them over phone since then.

10. Controversial activist Rehana Fathima surrendered before the police in Kochi on Saturday, a day after the Supreme Court dismissed her anticipatory bail plea in cases against her for circulating a video in which she was semi-nude, allowing her minor children to paint on her body. The allegation against Fathima, who made an attempt to enter the hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala in 2018, is that she asked her children, a boy and girl aged 14 and 8 respectively to paint on her semi-nude body.

11. After the video was found by the Cyber Dome of Kochi Police, a case was registered against the activist in June, for offences punishable under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act), Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.The top court further observed as to what kind of impression the children will get about the culture of this country through such videos.

12. *Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has launched ‘Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy’* under which his government will waive registration fee and road tax.

13. The Reserve Bank of India offered an additional special liquidity facility of Rs 5,000 crore each at its policy lending rate to NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) and NHB (National Housing Bank) to boost rural lending and affordable housing.
