NATIONAL, 05 AUGUST, 2020 (GPN): At least 100 people were killed and around 4,000 wounded in two huge explosions that rocked Lebanese capital Beirut. The blasts took place on Tuesday evening (around 6.10 pm local time), shaking buildings all over the city and causing severe damage and casualties.

The first explosion struck the city’s port area after 6pm local time. Videos captured the shockwave striking building kilometers away. Another blast took place in the city center. Footage being circulated online shows what appears to be two distinct smoke plumes within the affected area.

The number of casualties is expected to rise. The causes of the blasts remain unknown, but Lebanese Interior Minister Mohammad Fahmi has said that the explosive chemicals stored at Port of Beirut may have caused the explosions.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and some other parts of Maharashtra for today.
The ‘Bhumi Pujan’ for the proposed Ram temple in Ayodhya will begin at 12.30 pm today, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing the ‘Shila Pujan’, ‘Bhumi Pujan’ and ‘Karma Shila Pujan’.

The Complete Story:

Details on Beirut blast..
7 years ago, a Panama registered cargo vessel was stranded at Beirut port – due to mechanical problems.

The ships owners deserted the ship & left it’s crew high & dry after some months.

After months, the ship’s crew were allowed to leave ship & go home.

However, with the ship stranded at Beirut port for non-payment of dues – *it’s cargo of 2700 TONS of deadly Ammonium Nitrate* was offloaded into some warehouses inside the port.

The legal battle between the Port & ship owners continued for years…while the cargo of Ammonium Nitrate rotted in the warehouses on land.

And then… THIS happened
💣💥💣💥💣💥

*2700 Tonnes of deadly explosive cargo went BOOM in a warehouse & flattened a large part of Beirut city.
