NATIONAL NEWS:

1. *The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will announce the RBSE Class 10 results today (on July 28)* on its official website at 4 pm. An SMS alert about the declaration of result will also be sent to the pre-registered students by HT as soon as it is released. The SMS notification will have a direct link to check the RBSE Class 10th results. Students can also check the results of the class 10 board examinations online at rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in.

2. In *Assam* , over 22 lakh people are submerged in the third wave of *floods* death tolls to 103. Goalpara, Dhubri, Barpeta are among the worst-affected districts. Over one lakh hectares of crop areas are also marooned.

3. *India bans 47 more apps* ; most are clones of 59 earlier-banned Chinese-origin apps. Some of the apps banned by the Ministryt of Electronics and Information Technology include TikTok Lite, Helo Lite, SHAREit Lite, BIGO LIVE Lite and VFY Lite.

4. Enforcement Directorate *(ED) has sought details of the properties* purchased by *Rajiv Gandhi and Nehru trust* in Haryana. ED is already probing former Congress CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda in connection with the Gurugram land scam looking at the quid-pro-quo nature of the deals.

5. The *Delhi government* on Monday *issued an order allowing street hawkers and vendors to work* in the city to operate from 10 am to 8 pm for an initial period of one week.

6. Tech giant *Google extending work from home* (WFH) facility for its employees globally, including in India, till *June 30 next year* .

7. *Rajasthan governor* Kalraj Mishra on Monday *asked the state Cabinet to send another proposal to convene an assembly session,* saying a floor test can be a reasonable ground for calling it on short notice.

8. The *Supreme Court* on Monday *allowed the Rajasthan Assembly Speaker to withdraw his appeal* against the high court’s order asking him to defer till July 24 the disqualification proceedings against sacked deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and 18 dissident Congress MLAs.

9. *PM Modi launches high-tech COVID testing labs* at Noida, Mumbai and Kolkata via video conference. These facilities would also be used for testing Hepatitis B and C, HIV and dengue

However, Omar, a former union minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, made it clear he would continue to work for his party National Conference and people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The *Government employees retiring during COVID-19 pandemic will be receiving ‘provisional’ pension* till their regular Pension Payment Order (PPO) is issued and other official formalities completed. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said. A decision was taken that in order to avoid a delay in the start of regular pension covered under CCS (Pension Rules) 1972,

14. *Tamil actress Vijayalakshmi was rushed to a hospital in Chennai on Sunday after she allegedly attempted suicide* citing social media abuse. She posted a video of social media revealing she has been under a lot of stress for some months and named politician Seeman, head of Naam Tamilar Katchi party, of allegedly harassing her. She consumed BP tablets in an attempt to suicide.

15. The *Tamil Nadu’s* Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) is expected to release Tamil Nadu *SSLC results 2020 anytime soon.* Although an official confirmation on the release date of results is awaited, it is being speculated that the board would release the SSLC class 10th results before July 31.

16. Andhra Pradesh *(AP)* and *Karnataka* crossed the grim milestone of *one lakh COVID-19 cases*. *Kerala’s* tally inched toward the *20,000* mark and *Telangana* saw the total infection count beach the *55,000* mark. *Tamil Nadu* reported highest single day spike of 6,993 cases, taking the tally to *2,20,716*

✈INTERNATIONAL NEWS:

1. *India, Indonesia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue held in New Delhi* : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led the Indian delegation while the Indonesian delegation was led by their Defence Minister General Prabowo Subianto. The dignitary is in India for strengthening the ties between the two maritime neighbours.

2. *India Protests Pak move to convert Gurdwara into Mosque in Lahore* : Ministry of External affairs, expressed concern over the move to claim Gurdwara Shahidi Asthan at Naulakha Bazaar in Lahore as the place of Masjid Shahid Ganj as well as to convert the shrine into a mosque. India called upon Pakistan to investigate the matter and take immediate remedial measures.

3. *Pakistan government has presented the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Review* and Re-consideration Ordinance 2020 on the National Assembly on Monday. *To allow Kulbhushan Jadhav file for review* .

4. *Pakistan Army resorted to repeated unprovoked ceasefire violation.* Indian Army retaliated strongly killing one Pakistani soldier and injuring 8 others. As Pakistan tries to push in a large number of trained terrorists into the Indian side to carry out attacks on the first anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370,.

5. *The first batch of Rafael Jets* flew out of France. The jets are to *reach India on July 29* , 2020.The fighter jets will officially be inducted and join the Indian Air Force fleet in Haryana’s Ambala.

6. The five aircraft will be the first tranche of the 36 planes bought by India from France in a Rs. 59,000-crore inter-governmental deal in 2016. First Rafale fighter jet was handed over to India in October 2019.

7. The *Rafale aircraft will cover a distance of nearly 7,000 km from France to India* with air-to-air refuelling and a single stop at a French airbase in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Indian Embassy in France in a statement said, Delivery of ten aircraft has been completed on schedule but Five will stay back in France for training Mission.

8. The *Government of India recently extended 1 million USD of medical assistance to North Korea* on the request of World Health Organization. The medical assistance is provided as part of WHO anti-Tuberculosis programme.

9. The *Indian Army announced that the Siachen Valley is to be opened for the civilians.* The decision comes amidst Line of Actual Control stand off between India and China.

10. *Bangladesh received 10 broad-gauge locomotives from India* on Monday. In an online handing over ceremony, the locomotives were flagged off from Gede station in India by the External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar and the Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal.

11. *The Indian Government is looking at banning even more Chinese-origin apps.* Over 200 apps are on the list, with the most prominent one being *PUBG* Mobile. Games like *Call of Duty* : Mobile, *Clash of Clans,* and *Clash Royale* are likely on the list as well, due to their deep-rooted affiliation with Tencent.

12. *India begins reconstruction of 300-year-old Sree Sree Joy Kali Matar Temple in Bangladesh* : The reconstruction is happening with Indian grant assistance of Bangladeshi Taka 97 lakhs and a total cost of Bangladeshi Taka of 1.33 Crores under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) scheme of India.

1. *Flag lowered at US consulate in Chengdu as China takes control* : Chinese authorities have taken over the US consulate general in Chengdu, marking the diplomatic mission’s official closure and a new low point in ties between the world’s largest economies. At dawn on Monday, the American flag outside the consulate was lowered while police held back crowds that had gathered over the weekend to watch.

2. *The U.S. Consulate General in Chengdu was established in 1985* . The Consulate started with only six American officers and approximately 20 local employees. It was made up of an Executive Office (a Consul General and administrative assistant); a small office handling political, economic and commercial issues; a Consular Section; a Management Section and what was then known as the U.S. Information Service. The consulate was seen as strategically important, because it allowed the US to gather information on Tibet, where there has been long-running pressure for independence. Rights groups have long accused China of religious repression and human rights abuses in Tibet, which Beijing denies

3. On Friday, China had ordered the closure in response to Washington’s order for the Chinese consulate in Houston to be shut, blaming the deterioration of US-China ties on Washington and urging the US to withdraw its decision. Tensions between the two countries over trade and the coronavirus reached a new level last week when on Tuesday the US ordered China’s consulate in Texas closed, accusing Beijing of using it as a hub of espionage and intellectual property theft.

4. *United Arab Emirates — Iran has moved a mock aircraft carrier to the strategic Strait of Hormuz* amid heightened tensions between Tehran and the U.S., satellite photographs released Monday show, likely signalling the Islamic Republic soon plans to use it for live-fire drills.

*Why coconut oil gets freezed in winter season*

Coconut oil consists of many saturated fats. The air in winter season gets cooled and therefore liquids change into solids and get freeze. There are fatty acids and glycerin in oils. These are saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. If there is more unsaturated fatty acid in the oils, then they will not freeze in winter season and vice-versa. There are 90% saturated fatty acids in the coconut oil and so it easily freezes when the temperature goes down. Ground nut oil, sun flower oil etc contain more unsaturated fatty acids and therefore donot freeze.

*How do weighing machines work?*
