MUMBAI, 17 DECEMBER, 2019 (GPN): The Shriram Millennium School, Gurugram was honoured to have Mr Sonam Wangchuk, an innovative engineer and education reformist, interact with our students. The school hosted the STEAM Conclave for educators from across the country, which was organised by Shri Educare Ltd. Passionate about learning through daily life and applying it in a sustainable manner, his mantra being, “Live simply so that each human being can simply live”. Mr. Sonam Wangchuk wants to spread the love of learning, and he founded SECMOL- the Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh to transform education into being practical and fun!

Mr. Wangchuk believes that rote learning kills creativity and curiosity, and said, “If failures can achieve what toppers dream of, then we must view the failures differently and change our mindset.

He has built a school in Ladakh with the help of his students. His school is run by students themselves; where they are encouraged to have parliament type sessions for discussion of ideas. The entire building is built on the principles of sustainability.

He spoke to the children and asked them to always be curious learners. He advised them to be practical in their thinking and develop sustainable ideas as per the need and requirement of their own surroundings. He said that along with 3Rs of educations the 3Hs are equally important- Head Hand and Heart. The students were left with a feeling of awe, inspiration and motivation. ENDS
