MUMBAI, 14th DECEMBER, 2019 (GPN) :  After a successful opening game against the Delhi team, Pune Warriors backed themselves with another brilliant performance against the Finecab Hyderabad Strikers, who they defeated 50-40 in the round 2 of the 2nd Kotak Mahindra Bank Tennis Premier League played at the Celebration Sports Club in Andheri here on Saturday.  With 99 points in 2 games, the Pune Warriors sit comfortably on the top of the Group B Table.

Pune made a poor start, losing their first wheelchair tennis tie 3-7.  The U-14 boys helped the Warriors bounce back with a dominating 8-2 victory.  In the Girls U-18 tie, Kaavya Sawhney/Smriti Bhasin fought hard but were not able to increase the lead and settled for a 5-5 draw with their opponents. Later Rutuja Bhosale won her women’s singles tie comfortably, defeating  Riya Bhatia 18-12, while Purav Raja and Siddharth Vishwakarma fought hard to defeat Mohit Mayur and Prajwal Dev in the men’s doubles 16-14 and help their team to a 50-40 victory.
In another match,  Saketh Myneni and Nitin Singa helped Delhi Binny’s Brigade secure a close 46-44 victory over Chennai Stallions. There was not much separating both the teams as they drew all four ties. With the scores tied at 30-30, it was up to the experienced pair of Saket and Nitin Sinha to put their team ahead. Saket and Nitin played brilliantly and picked up points during crucial situations to win the tie 16-14 and guide Delhi Binny’s Brigade to a 46-44 victory.
