MUMBAI, NOVEMBER 14, 2019 (GPN) : The Society for the Rehabilitation of Crippled Children (SRCC) is a Public Charitable Trust with a mandate to organize hospital and clinics for the diagnosis, care, and treatment of children and for the children in need of alternate support. Since 1948, the Society has been assisting children with special needs from all sections of society in achieving their highest potential. Mission of SRCC is “No child should go without treatment for want of money” and every effort is being made to ensure ‘Health, Hope & Happiness’ of children.

In this landmark year, 2019, SRCC added ‘Aquatic Therapy Unit’ at the Centre which has been supported by ‘Kotak Karma’ through its CSR programme for Healthcare.  As per the team of clinicians’ the Aquatic Therapy to be offered at the Centre will have many advantages and benefits to individuals recovering from all phases of injury or illness. The scope of patients treated in the pool would be surprisingly vast, encompassing everything from post-surgical, non-surgical, orthopaedic, rheumatologic, and neurological to chronic pain. The therapeutic properties of water and the skills of professional aquatic therapists can enable increased mobility and function in the patients.

Goals of Aquatic Therapy Cases to benefit from Aquatic Therapy includes

The pool has been specially designed for a children’s facility keeping in mind the requirements of the special population it caters to. The underprivileged children from economically weaker sections of the Society will also be able to avail the ‘Aquatic Therapy’ services at the Centre.

Presently, SRCC Centre provides comprehensive outpatient multidisciplinary rehabilitation care of the highest quality in a family-centered environment for children aged from birth to 18 years. The services offered cover a wide variety of paediatric rehabilitation and development specialties under one roof.  SRCC Children’s Hospital, managed by Narayana Health has started operations in April 2017, which houses many specialties aimed towards transforming children’s health in India.  Some of the tertiary care facilities and services are Cardiology and Cardiac surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Gastroenterology and Urology.
