Maharashtra Cabinet will meet in Ahilyanagar on May 6, Developments foretold

MUMBAI, 27 APRIL, 2025 (GPN): The Mahayuti Cabinet is set to hold its meeting on May 6 in Ahilyanagar in western Maharashtra to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, the famed 18th-century warrior queen whose birthplace is in the district.“It will be a full-fledged Council of Ministers meeting which will be attended by all 42 ministers of all three Mahayuti partners, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar,” sources said to NH.

Reliable government officials further said that while the agenda for the Cabinet meeting is yet to be finalised, it is likely to focus on a comprehensive development package, from infrastructure projects to schemes, for Ahilyanagar district with a thrust on the renovation of historical monuments.Initially scheduled for April 29, the Cabinet meeting was postponed to May 6 to give the administration more time to make adequate preparations for it.

When asked about new developments in the state and rest of India the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the bullet train project will be completed by 2028. “By 2028, we will able to travel in bullet train,” he said.The Chief Minister added that the bullet train will also be connected to Vadhvan. While presenting state’s annual Budget, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar has said a station of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will also be near the Vadhvan port.

On April 21, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) said approximately 75% of the excavation work for the bullet train station at Bandra Kurla Complex in the metropolis has been completed. An NHSRCL spokesperson told NH about 14 lakh cubic meters of earthwork has been excavated out of 18,722,63 cubic meters required to be excavated for the underground bullet train station.On completion, the 508-km bullet train project is expected to reduce the travel time between Ahmedabad and Mumbai to around 3 hours from the current 6 to 8 hours. A 50-kilometre stretch between Surat and Bilimora in South Gujarat is slated to host the first trial run of the bullet train in 2026.

The corridor will have 12 stations. While the one in Mumbai is underground, the ones at Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati are elevated.The foundation stone for the Rs 1.1-lakh crore project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2017 at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad.

The Government of Japan would give a soft credit to India for ₹88,000 crore at a negligible interest rate of 0.1% as part of the cooperation agreement between Japan and India. The loan has a 50-year amortisation schedule.Recently CM Fadnavis inaugurated the new electric AC bus service, Route A-30, operated by BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport), at a ceremony held at the Sahyadri Guest House. The service starts from Vikhroli Depot and runs to Mumbai Central, offering a modern, eco-friendly commute option for Mumbaikars.Joining the Chief Minister at the event were Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and Ministers Adv. Ashish Shelar and Mangal Prabhat Lodha. Their presence highlighted the unified support for expanding Mumbai’s electric public transportation network.
