Keys distributed to slum dwellers of Kranti Nagar on Gudi Padwa and Eid by MLA Dilip Lande

MUMBAI, 31 MARCH, 2025 (GPN): MLA Dilip (Mama) Lande has given the keys of flats to 114 families who are the slum dwellers in Kranti Nagar. These slum dwellers staying in the shanty houses have been dreaming of a proper house for years, MLA Dilip Mama Lande presented a gift on Gudi Padwa to them by giving them keys to their flats in a premium area of Kurla.
The dream of housing for the slum dwellers who resided on the Mithi River and Airport Authority land has come true. Through the efforts of MLA Dilip Lande, during the tenure of former Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, 4,000 slum dwellers of Sandesh Nagar and Kranti Nagar have received houses in three phases in the Premier Colony in Kurla West.
The distribution of keys for 114 flats in the fourth phase of this initiative was organized by MLA Dilip Lande at the Bandra MMRDA ground through Lande mama and the Deputy District Magistrate.
114 slum dwellers received Padwa new house on news year in the fourth phase of key distribution. After the 2005 floods in Mumbai, the issue of slum dwellers’ houses along the Mithi river came to the fore. The state government started an initiative to rehabilitate thousands of slum dwellers here. However, even after 15 years, the dream of houses for slum dwellers in Sandesh Nagar and Kranti Nagar had not been fulfilled.
As soon as MLA Dilip Lande was elected, he raised this issue in the session held and warned Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of self-immolation over the issue of people’s houses. As a result of his efforts, the Chief Minister immediately took action and started a program to distribute keys to the hut owners by providing a fund of Rs 85 crore.
Earlier, 4,000 people were distributed keys to their flats in three phases. Today, on the eve of Gudi Padwa, the fourth phase of key distribution to 114 families was held at the MMRDA office in the presence of MLA Dilip Lande mama and MMRDA Deputy Collector Padmakar Rokade.
A large number of local citizens were present on this occasion, tears of joy were visible in the eyes of the flat holders as they received the keys of their dream houses in Kurla West Premier Colony on the eve of Gudi Padwa. Meanwhile, these beneficiary hut holders thanked MLA Dilip Lande and cheered him for his noble deeds.
