Fast action will be taken now against drug dealers under MCOCA – Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam

MUMBAI, 23 MARCH, 2025 (GPN): Currently, the future generation is being addicted to drugs in Mumbai city and suburbs. Keeping this in mind, Shiv Sena MLA Dilip Lande has raised the issue of drugs in an eye-catching manner in the assembly session.
When MLA Dilip Lande raised the issue in the Legislative Assembly through a striking suggestion that large-scale sale of dangerous drugs like gutkha, charas, and ganja is going on in the Chandivali area of ​​suburban Mumbai in Kajupada, Sakinaka, and Powai with the blessings and under the very surveillance of the police, Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam assured that action will be taken against the accused in such crimes under MCOCA.
Tea and leaf stalls are operating illegally in the college premises in Hiranandani till 3 am. MLA Lande told the House that Fahim Khan, the owner of the shop Tayyab Supariwala in Kajupada, is openly selling drugs to school and college children.
On this occasion, MLA Dilip Lande also praised the local police for arresting the accused involved in illegal drug sales. Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam said that appropriate strict action is being taken in this regard.
While giving information regarding the action taken against the notorious drug peddler Fahim Khan, deportation action was taken against the infamous Fahim Khan. However, it was cancelled by the court. Drugs are brought from outside the state and sold in Mumbai city.
Our local police took good action in this case. The police have take action but the crime in this regard is increasing. Therefore, now action will be taken under MCOCA against those selling drugs in the state.
15,873 cases have been registered regarding drug use and 14,230 people have been arrested.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Yogesh Kadam gave a striking statement in the Legislative Assembly that 2,738 cases have been registered against those involved in possession and transportation of drugs, 3,627 accused have been arrested, and drugs worth Rs 4,240 crore have been seized so far.
MLA Dilip Lande detailing the situation in his constituency, stated that illegal drugs like gutkha, ganja, charas and online lotteries are being sold openly in the Ghatkopar and Sakinaka police station limits, making it difficult for women to move around in the area. Stringent action will be taken for the social welfare of the public.
