NAVI MUMBAI, SACHIN MURDESHWAR: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has appointed Dr. Amol Shinde as the new additional commissioner. The appointment comes as a replacement for City Engineer Shirish Aaradwad, who had been holding additional charge of the post for several months. Dr. Shinde will now assume the responsibilities for various key departments in the NMMC.
Dr. Shinde’s portfolio includes overseeing Circle 2, the Fire Department, Secretary Department, Legal Department, Elections, Sports and Cultural Department, Vehicle and Mechanical Department, Parks and Tree Authority, Encroachment Control and Eviction, Pollution Control and Environment, Census operations, Vishnudas Bhave Theatre management, and the Computer Department. He is also tasked with supervising the cleaning and desilting of holding ponds and large drains across the city.
The NMMC has also seen other administrative changes, with senior officers being deputed to different roles. Prior to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct. The new appointments include Deputy Commissioner Naina Sasane, Assistant Commissioner Satish Jadhav, and Dr. Shrikant Todkar.
Dr. Shrikant Todkar has taken up the role of Belapur Ward Officer, while the former Belapur division officer, Prabodhan Mawade, has been transferred to
Turbhe as the new division officer. Additionally, Turbhe Division Officer Bharat Dhande has been reassigned to the position of Digha Division Officer.
Dr Amol Shinde, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s personal secretary, known as one of the key players behind Shinde’s flagship “Shasan Aplya Dari” programme, has been given an additional responsibility as MD of Mahatma Phule Backward Class Development Corporation after the retirement of Bipinkumar Shrimali. The Opposition has already raised voice over PS of ministers being given such responsibilities.
