Various civic facilities and projects of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Lokarpan and BhumiPujan were completed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
NAVI MUMBAI, 12 OCTOBER, 2024 (GPN): In a significant boost to urban development, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated and performed bhoomipujan for 25 civic facilities and projects at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Vashi. The projects, valued at over Rs.410 crores, are aimed at enhancing infrastructure, health services, and environmental management in Navi Mumbal.
Among the projects to be inaugurated were a first of its kind Olympic size public pool in Vashi and the first indoor vehicle parking facility at CBD Belapur, which will accommodate over 400 cars.
The bhoomipujan was performed for a Maharashtra Bhavan to be built at Rs 121 crore on Cidco land at Vashi station.
The projects that were inaugurated include a cancer screening facility in 13 primary civil health centres, a 10-bed chemotherapy facility at Nerul Hospital, schools, markets, health centres, water bodies, e-buses and e-charging stations. Shinde also performed the groundbreaking programme for concreting of Ghansoli Palm Beach Road as well as for construction of stormwater drainage and footpaths costing Rs 52.5 crore. He was accompanied by deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and other ministers.
Shinde said over 1.45 lakh women in Navi Mumbai have directly benefited from the Ladki Bahin scheme so far. He arinounced that women commuters travelling in Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport buses will now be given a 50% discount in fares.
During the inauguration, Chief Minister Shinde expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) In accelerating the city’s development. He highlighted key projects, including a 10-bed chemotherapy ward, a new school, a market, health. centres, water tanks, e-buses, and e-charging stations. Additionally, the NMMC is set to introduce a recycling initiative for cloth, demonstrating its commitment to innovative waste management solutions.
Fadnavis, who inaugurated the centralised building of Maharashtra Cyber Security in Mahape, said, “The cyber security centre is well equipped with the best technology for tracking the cyber crooks targeting gullible citizens and duping them monetarily.”
Prominent figures at the event included CIDCO Chairman Sanjay Shirsat, MPs Shrirang Barane and Naresh Mhaske, and MLAs Ganesh Naik and Manda Mhatre, along with NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailash Shinde
In his address, Chief Minister Shinde highlighted the success of the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, which has directly benefited over 145,000 women in Navi Mumbai. He also announced new initiatives, such as allowing women to travel on NMMT buses at a 50% discount, which was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees.
Additionally, the Chief Minister revealed that NMMC employees will receive a Diwali bonus of Rs.33,000 this year, an Increase of Rs.3,000 from the previous year.
Key projects inaugurated:-
1. Concreting of Ghansoli Palm Beach Road connecting Ghansoli to Koparkhairane junction worth Rs.52.5 crores
2. Bhoomipujan of multi-purpose building in Koparkhairane at Sector 19A. The civic body has allotted Rs.54.29 crores for the project.
3. Olympic size swimming pool inauguration at NMMT Bus Station, Sector 12, Vashi.
4. Multi storied parking facility, inaugurated at Sector 15, CBD Belapur (Rs.34.63 crores).
5. Nerul Ward Office Building, inaugurated (Rs.2.36 crores).
6. New School Building at Kukshet (Rs.6.26 crores),
7. Foot-Over-Bridge on Koparkhairane Link Road Inauguration (Rs.2.44 crores).
8. Market Buildings in Kukshet and Koparkhairane Inauguration (Various amounts totalling Rs.16.14 crores).
9. Bhoomipujan of water tanks was held at Vashi, while inauguration of water tanks at Nerul, CBD Belapur, Ghansoli was held. The NMMC has allotted Rs.60 crores for the development of the water tanks.
10. Urban Health Post building was inaugurated at Sector 16, Koparkhairane the project costed NMMC Rs.2.28 crores.
11. Cancer Screening Facilities was inaugurated in 13 Urban Health Post (UHP).
12. New Urban Health Centre (UHWC) launched.
13. Textile Recycling Project Innovative waste management initiative launched.
14. E-Bus Facility-Launch of 25 electric buses.
15. Bhoomipujan of 18 new e-vehicle charging stations was held.

“The inauguration of these facilities represents a significant step toward improving civic amenities and infrastructure in Navi Mumbal. The NMMC is focused on implementing people-oriented administration, aiming to fulfill the growing needs of the city’s residents through various innovative projects and services”, said NMMC Chief Dr. Kailash Shinde.
NMMC Chief Dr. Kailash Shinde also told about the provision made to treat cancer patients by increasing the number of cancer screening centres in the city along with having modular Operation Theatre. “Corporation has become the first organization to set up a textile recycling unit,” said Shinde, which too was a part of the 25 projects.
CIDCO Managing Director Singhal called it to be a historic day wherein in addition to the successful landing of the aircraft at the NMIA a slew of development projects were given formal sanction to be commissioned for the benefit of the citizen. All the projects of NMMC and CIDCO were inaugurated by Chief Minsiter Eknath Shinde, remotely.
“If Navi Mumbai airport is going to reduce the air traffic in the Mumbai Metropolitan region (MMR) then the other projects by NMMC and CIDCO will automatically make the state the powerhouse of development. Mumbai will become the Fintech capital. There is so much potential in the MMR region that we can play a concrete role in PMs goal of making the country a 1 trillion economy.,” said the CM Shinde.
