MUMBAI, 9 OCTOBER, 2024 (GPN): Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata died at a Mumbai hospital late on Wednesday. The chairman emeritus of the Tata group was 86.

For the past few days, Mr. Tata was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai. Mr. Tata was hospitalised on Monday (October 7, 2024) owing to age-related issues, and to control his blood pressure.

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran confirmed the death of Ratan Tata.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Mr. Tata calling him a visionary business leader, compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being.Modi said Tata provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses and India’s biggest conglomerates, Tata Group, and at the same time his contribution went far beyond the boardroom.

Congress (LoP) Rahul Gandhi tweeted, Ratan Tata was a man with a vision. He has left a lasting mark on both business and philanthropy. My condolences to his family and the Tata community.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said industrialist Ratan Tata will be accorded a state funeral. Padma Vibhushan Shri Ratan Tata, 86, died at a Mumbai hospital earlier in the night. In a post on X, Shinde said Tata was a unique blend of morality and entrepreneurship. He was a living legend who successfully helmed the 150 year-old Tata group, the CM added.

Deputy CM and NCP Chief Ajit (Dada) Pawar tweeted, Deeply saddened by the news of passing away of legendary industrialist and philanthropist Shri. Ratan Tata.Apart from his invaluable contribution as an industrialist, he leaves behind a legacy of benevolence and compassion, underlined by his immense love for his country.My prayers are with his dear ones and millions of fans and well wishers in this hour of grief.
