Union Home Minister Amit Shah: In Jammu and Kashmir, “under the Congress rule, there was only reign of terror and democracy”. “…Under the BJP rule, the great festival of democracy was celebrated with full pomp and peace,”

BJP Well-wishers – No party has won a third consecutive term in Haryana since its inception in 1966.

Nayab Singh Saini (OBC) is being credited as the key architect behind the BJP’s success in Haryana.

Devendra Fadnavis: Jammu and Kashmir are set to get their first government since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, by the efforts of the Ruling BJP led NDA Government. The Union territories of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh have been fully integrated into the mainstream of the nation giving India back it’s lost land. BJP made it possible not for their own gains but for motherland India. The fair and square elections held here is a Victory of India!

The National Conference-Congress alliance emerge victorious in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, winning 47 out of 90 seats

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah: Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, as our party look ahead on course to come to power in the union territory with ally Congress.

NEW DELHI, 8 OCTOBER, 2024 (GPN)– Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis joins party workers celebrating the party’s performance in the Haryana elections, at the party office in Mumbai. Out of 90 assembly seats in Haryana, BJP has won 50 crossing the majority mark and emerging victorious,A total of 1,031 candidates are competing for Haryana’s 90 Assembly seats.

Speaking at a press conference in Jalna, Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde stated, “Rahul Gandhi attempted to polarise votes through caste-based hatred wherever he went. However, the people of Haryana have responded decisively, rejecting this politics of division in favour of progress. The public recognises the positive impact of a double-engine government, both at the state and national levels, and I am confident this will be reflected in the upcoming Maharashtra elections.”

Twenty-five years ago too in 1999, PM Narendra Modi was championing the same values that continue to define his leadership today. He consistently emphasized that the party’s success lies not only in winning elections but in strengthening its connection with the masses, particularly farmers, and addressing the pressing issues of the State.

Narendra Modi firmly believed that merely securing a victory in Haryana would not suffice. The real triumph, he argued, would be in winning the trust and hearts of the common people, making them feel that the BJP is a party for the people, one that understands their concerns.

Rejoices turned into Despair for the Congress on Tuesday as the celebratory mood at the AICC headquarters in the morning changed into a sombre environment by noon as the trends for the Haryana assembly elections came in showing that the party was headed. As counting began, early trends showed that the Congress seemed on track to score a big win in the Haryana polls, as predicted also by exit polls.

Party workers were seen bursting crackers and distributing ‘jalebis’ and ‘laddoos’ at the AICC headquarters at 24, Akbar Road, here. Drumbeats reverberated at the grand old party’s headquarters around 9AM when trends showed that it was racing ahead.

However, post 10 AM, as the trends showed the BJP clawing its way back into the contest, the headquarters bore a sombre look with the ‘dhols’ and sweets disappearing from the scene.

Congress leaders were seen giving media bytes at various places at the headquarters, arguing that the trends would change by 1 PM but it did not happen.

The Congress canteen was bustling as usual but an air of disappointment was writ large on the faces of party leaders and workers there.

A canteen worker lamented that they had prepared special dishes such as ‘pakoris’ and ‘puris’ but there were hardly any takers due to the turn of events in the Haryana polls.

Soon, the AICC headquarter bore a deserted look with only media personnel and a few party leaders hanging around.

Some party workers were heard blaming EVMs for the loss, some blamed ticket distribution while others were reeling under the imminent ‘shock defeat’.

“We can’t believe what has happened. There was so much anti- incumbency on the ground. This is a very surprising result,” a party worker said.

As votes were counted for assembly elections held last month, it was a mixed bag for the Congress and the BJP – the saffron party headed for defeat in Jammu and Kashmir but bucked early morning trends to move ahead of the Congress in the nail biting Haryana contest.

If the trends hold, the Congress may well have to settle for a loss in the heartland state and a ‘second partner win’ in the union territory.

At 2PM, the ruling BJP had crossed the majority mark in the Haryana assembly and was leading or had won 47 seats, while the Congress was ahead or had won 38 seats, according to the trends available on the Election Commission website.Several exit polls had predicted a big Congress victory in Haryana.

What started as buoyant result in Jammu and Kashmir also seemed headed for a disappointing turn in Jammu and Kashmir for the Congress as though its alliance with the National Conference seemed set for majority, the Mallikarjun Kharge-led party was leading or had won only six seats.

The Congress also raised with the Election Commission the issue of an “unexplained slowdown” in updating of results of Haryana elections on the poll watchdog’s website and urged it to direct officials to update accurate figures so that “false news and malicious narratives” can be countered immediately.

In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners, Congress general secretary (In-charge, Communications) Jairam Ramesh said that between 9 and 11 am there was an “unexplained slowdown” in updating of results on the ECI’s website.

In a setback for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the party failed to win any seats in Haryana, the home state of its leader Arvind Kejriwal. However, AAP candidate Mehraj Malik is leading in the race for the Doda assembly seat in Jammu and Kashmir. AAP’s loss in Haryana is significant, as the party could not secure a seat-sharing deal with the Congress, its ally in the national INDIA bloc.

The BJP effectively navigated Haryana’s complex caste equations, securing support from various communities that are traditionally influential in state politics. This strategic outreach was critical in consolidating votes across different demographics.

The BJP focused on appealing to non-Jat communities, which constitute a substantial portion of Haryana’s electorate. The party’s candidate selection emphasised OBC and upper-caste representation, with CM Saini, an OBC leader, at the forefront of their campaign. By reducing the number of Jat candidates and increasing those from upper-caste backgrounds, the BJP consolidated its traditional support base while simultaneously attracting OBC voters.

The parole to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh just three days before the state elections may have also played a small role in BJP’s success. The Dera Sacha Sauda sect commands a substantial following among economically backward and non-Jat communities in Haryana. This demographic has proved to be crucial for electoral success in the state.

Jammu and Kashmir Election Results 2024 –

The Union Territory held its first assembly elections in ten years, which is also the first assembly poll after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 that granted special status. Voting was held in three phases in the 90 assembly seats: September 18, September 25, and October 1.

NC patriach Farooq Abdullah’s views are in contrast to what RaGa said during his campaigns. In an interview with GPN, Abdullah said that instead of focusing on Article 370, Congress should focus on other areas of improvement for the benefit of the region.

The vote counting show clear lead for Congress-NC alliance in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, the National Conference vice president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, is leading on Ganderbal. The ECI declared NC chief as winner in Budgam.

Today’s voting results will decide the electoral fate of political heavyweights, including former ministers Tara Chand, Muzaffar Baig, Taj Mohiuddin, Raman Bhalla, Basharat Bukhari and Sajad Lone. Other key candidates in the fray are National Conference’ Omar Abdullah, J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina, Congress’ Tariq Hamid Karra, Apni party’s Altaf Bukhari, CPI-M’s Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, PDP’s Iltija Mufti, PDP’s Waheed ur Rehman Para and Congress’ Ghulam Ahmad Mir.
