MUMBAI, 5th OCTOBER, 2024 (GPN): Sachin Kurmi, taluka president and local leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit Pawar faction, was murdered by unidentified assailants on Friday, October 4 at 12.30am, Initial reports indicate that he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon behind the MHADA colony in Mumbai’s Byculla area.
In a statement, the Mumbai Police confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway. They stated, “NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Sachin Kurmi was murdered by unknown individuals using a sharp-edged weapon in Mumbai’s Byculla area last night. A case has been filed, and further inquiries are in progress.”
Authorities have noted that the identities of the attackers remain unknown, but they suspect that 2 to 3 individuals may have been involved in the incident according to police reports
Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and transported the injured Kurmi to the nearby JJ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor. The police have since taken custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
