MUMBAI, 29 SEPTEMBER, 2024 (GPN): The distribution of subsidies to cotton and soybean farmers for the Kharif season of 2023 was launched today in the state cabinet meeting. CM Eknath Shinde , Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar alongwith Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde deposited the subsidy in the farmers’ accounts online on a click of button during the event.In the first phase, 2,398.93 Crore rupees are being deposited in the accounts of 49 lakh 50 thousand account holders.Out of which Rs 1548 crore 34 lakhs have been earmarked for cotton growing farmers and Rs 2646 crore 34 lakhs for soybeans growing farmers.
This action by Mahayuti is to provide financial support to soybean and cotton farmers who suffered losses due to the low price of crops last year.A separate portal was created by the MahaIT along with the accountant to disburse the grant independently. In order to proceed in a transparent manner, information such as consent letter and bank account Aadhaar etc. of the farmers were collected.
Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde has informed to GPN that as Aadhaar and other information continue to be matched and after scrutiny, the rest of the farmers will also be given the benefit of this scheme.In the first phase, Rs 2399 crore was disbursed to the accounts of about 50 lakh farmers in the state.We believe that our farmer brothers will definitely get benefit and strength through this action stated the minister’s.
