Bombay High Court’s Iconic first step towards state of the art ultra modern new complex first time after Independent India– Chief Justice Dr. Dhananjay Y Chandrachud

MUMBAI, 23 SEPTEMBER, 2024 (GPN): Chief Justice of India Justice Dr. Dhananjay Y Chandrachud performed Bhumi Poojan of the proposed new site at Bandra East , Mumbai today. Then speaking at the keynote ceremony held at Bandra West , he asserted that the new High Court Complex for the Bombay High Court is the first step in this journey.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde , Supreme Court Justice BR Gavai , Justice A.S.Ok , Justice Dipankar Dutta , Justice Ujwal Bhuyan and Justice Prasanna B. Varale and Bombay High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay , Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis , Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar , Solicitor General Mr. Vyas , Mr. Saraf , Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik , Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Mhaiskar , as well as Bar Council President Lawyers , Advocates related to judicial affairs were present on this occasion.

The Chief Justice said that September 23 , 2024 will be a historic date to start the work of the new High Court complex. The Bombay High Court has given birth to many national personalities and its legacy spans the social, economic and national spheres. Therefore, this new complex of the High Court will be accessible to all , he said.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said , today is an important day for Maharashtra state and Mumbai. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building of the Bombay High Court is the beginning of a new era. It is a matter of pride and joy for me to witness the historic moment of this Bhoomi Pujan ceremony as the dream of the new Bombay High Court building is now becoming a reality .

Stating that the role of courts is to strengthen democracy, Chief Minister Mr. Shinde said , freedom , equality , fraternity are not just words but they are guiding principles. It is these principles that have strengthened faith in the judicial process. This new building will meet the growing needs of the justice system. The Chief Minister hopes that the work of giving justice from this building of Bombay High Court will inspire and energize the future generation . Shinde expressed at this time.

Chief Minister Mr. Shinde said , people have the impression that victims should get speedy justice. The justice system needs to be more dynamic and for this the government has given priority to strengthen the justice system by taking many important decisions. Construction of 32 courts has been approved in the state and posts of judicial officers have also been created as required. He said that efforts are being made by the court as well as the government to get speedy justice to the people.

Chief Minister Mr. Shinde said that the judiciary stands as the protector of our constitution , citizens’ rights and the rule of law. In a democracy like India, the importance of an independent , efficient and accessible judiciary is paramount. Not only is justice done , but it is the responsibility imposed on us by the state constitution to do it promptly , fairly and justly. He said that the government is determined to provide whatever infrastructure facilities are required for that.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said , today is a very happy day for the state. Bhoomi Puja of the new building of Bombay High Court was done by the Chief Justice of the Court, Dr. Done by Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud. Among the most important institutions of democracy in our country, people have more faith in the judicial system. This institution holds the highest position in the minds of the people.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri. Fadnavis said , the present building of the High Court is a historical building. Lokmanya Tilak’s case in this court , Dr. This building has a long history with Babasaheb Ambedkar’s advocacy work done here. The present building is a historical building and has a rich architectural heritage. Many important decisions have been made from this building. This decision has changed the lives of the people of the state. He expressed his belief that the work of justice will be done at the same speed from the new building of the High Court .

On this occasion, 383 E Seva Kendras were launched in all over Maharashtra. Bombay Digital Law Report, an artificial intelligence based search engine was also launched. This engine will make it easy to view court judgments in any language.
