MUMBAI, 21 SEPTEMBER, 2024 (GPN): International Coastal Cleanup Day is organized on the 3rd Saturday of September to raise public awareness about the cleanliness of the seashore. Accordingly Juhu beach cleaning campaign was organised yesterday in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of Labor and Employment, Government of Maharashtra (GoM), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Pollution Control Board (PCB).
Every big task starts with small work (Chores), Governor CP Radhakrishnan asserted that today is the public awareness day for the cleanliness of the sea coast and this debut of coastal cleanliness will shape the concept of “Swachh Bharat, Mahan Bharat”.
Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav asserted that assistance will be provided through the central government for water recycling startups.Principal Secretary Shri. Darade said that all the chowpattys in Mumbai are being cleaned by BMC. He added Sewage must be cleaned and treated before it enter the ocean and our aim is to make the ocean beaches free of plastic and litter.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said , PM Narendra Modi has started Swachh Bharat Abhiyan across the country. The fortnight of ‘Cleanliness is a Service’ has been launched recently in the state and is being implemented at 4500 places across the state. The state is blessed with many beaches of natural beauty along its 720 km length. Tourists from all over the world also prefer clean beaches. It is everyone’s responsibility to keep these beaches clean.
On this occasion, the central government’s guide book on beach cleaning was released by dignitaries.Dignitaries including Governor, Chief Minister, NGO, students , employees of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) etc. cleaned the Juhu beach with the help of modern materials.
Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav , Mumbai City District Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar , Mumbai Suburban District Guardian Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha , MP Ravindra Waikar , MLA Amit Satam , Maharashtra Pollution Control Board Chairman Siddhesh Kadam , Central Forest and Environment Department Special Secretary Tanmay Kumar , Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Additional Commissioner Dr. Ashwini Joshi , Principal Secretary, Department of Environment and Climate Change, Pravin Darade , Member Secretary, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Dr. Avinash Dhakne and others were present on this occasion.
