MUMBAI, 18 SEPTEMBER, 2024 (GPN): Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will celebrate ‘World Tourism Day 2024’ (WTD – 2024) on 27th September like every year. The United Nations Tourism ( UN TOURISM) has announced the theme of World Tourism Day 2024 as ‘Tourism & Peace’. Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi , Managing Director, MTDC has informed that on the occasion of this day, seminars , painting and essay competitions will be organized by all the regional offices under the jurisdiction of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation .
This year, World Tourism Day (WTD) will be celebrated in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. In India WTD is celebrated by Union Ministry of Tourism, Maharashtra State Tourism Department through various activities. All MTDC Regional offices , tourist accommodation , restaurants , boat clubs , Kalagram etc. will celebrate ‘World Tourism Day ‘ till 27 September 2024 by implementing various activities related to tourism .
Tourists staying at MTDC accommodations will be welcomed with flowers and greetings on WTD. Activities such as traditional games, local cuisine, and experiential tourism, including nature walks and treks, will be available. Regional Manager Deepak Harane encourages everyone to participate in the celebrations and enjoy the unique environment.
Seminars will be organized through MTDC Regional Offices in which Eminent persons , tourism experts and tourism professionals will be invited. Along with this, regional level essay competitions will be organized,The topics for the Essay Competition are Tourism: A Tool for Building Peace, Tourism and World Peace, Tourist Destinations of Maharashtra and their Message of Peace, Tourism of My Dreams, India and Tourism: Ambassador and Symbol of Peace.Winners will receive various prizes, including accommodation and meals at MTDC facilities.
Additionally, a painting competition for students will be organized, with certificates and prizes for the top entries. The day will also feature the release of new brochures for MTDC’s tourist residences and eco-friendly banners at all MTDC locations.
MTDC General Manager Chandrasekhar Jaiswal, each regional managers of the state and MTDC Officer Mansi Kothare are working towards it’s implementation.
