PM Narendra Modi Counterattacks Congress administrations in Haryana and Shuns Kharge with clarity on NDA 100-day agenda

HARYANA, 14 SEPTEMBER, 2024 (GPN): Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday said that he had “loudly trumpeted” a 100-day agenda before the polls but the country is “suffering the terrible consequences” of his “inactions” in 95 days of his coalition government.

In a counter attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Haryana rally today on Saturday, said that although the new NDA government at the center has not yet completed 100 days, but it has already started work worth nearly Rs 15 lakh-crore.

At the campaign rally in Kurukshetra,Taking a dig at Kharge, PM Modi stated “We had said that the first 100 days of the BJP government will be of big decisions. 100 days are yet to be completed, but our government has already started works worth about Rs 15 lakh crore. 3 crore pucca houses have been approved for poor families,”

Attacking previous Congress administrations in Haryana, PM Modi highlighting the NDA achievements remarked,“We have seen that period of the Congress government when money for development used to be limited to one district only.” The BJP undertook development work in an equitable manner, Modi said.

Kharge had said that while 95 days are over, his coalition government is “vacillating”.”Let’s do a little recap about your loudly trumpeted 100-day agenda Your government brought an anti-people Budget to break the backbone of the poor and middle class. Terrorist attacks took place in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Jammu, where many bravehearts of the Indian Army were martyred,” the Congress chief said.

“It has been 16 months, Manipur is burning and Pradhan Mantri ji, you have no time to even look at the state,” Kharge said.

The fresh expose of the “Modi-Adani mega scam” and the acts of omission and commission by the SEBI chairperson cannot be buried under the rug anymore, he said.

“Whether it is the NEET paper leak scam or the stampede scenes proving massive unemployment, the Modi govt has betrayed the youth, everyday,” the Congress president said.Be it the statue of revered Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Maharashtra, the roof of the airports, the new Parliament or Lord Ram Temple in Ayodhya, expressways, bridges, roads, tunnels, whatever you have claimed to have built, they all had flaws, Kharge said.

PM Modi further slammed the Congress, accusing it of reducing its politics to spreading falsehoods and fostering anarchy in the country. He described today’s Congress as a new form of urban Naxal, expressing disdain for their willingness to lie.Modi also took aim at the Congress over issues affecting farmers, questioning their commitment to the Minimum Support Price (MSP). He said the party made a hue and cry over MSP, “but I ask them how many crops do they buy at MSP in Karnataka and Telangana?”

“Did any farmer receive money in their accounts during Congress rule,” PM Modi asked. He said nobody is today happy in the Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh as well because the state government has failed to manage its economy and control inflation.

Polling for the 90 assembly seats in Haryana will be held on October 5 and the votes will be counted on October 8.
On Thursday Kharge remarked that the Railway security has been in serious peril. Cities are flooded and states have not been provided adequate relief. Credit to the people and the INDIA parties, you had to hand over the Waqf Bill to JPC, forced to take a ‘U’ turn in the UPS and support the Constitution on Lateral Entry.

To rule out the remarks made by Congress,PM Modi said, nobody is today happy in the Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh as well because the state government has failed to manage its economy and control inflation. He praised Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for his humility and said he has dedicated himself for the state’s progress.Haryana has reached among top states in terms of investments and revenue, the prime minister said.

Modi said people gave him a third term at the Centre in the Lok Sabha elections, and going by their enthusiasm, the BJP is set to score a hat-trick in Haryana too.

A survey of more than 47,000 people across 388 districts in the country has showcased overwhelming support for the proposed Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, with nine out of 10 people speaking in its favour.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, as well as the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, 2024, were introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 8. This was done to streamline the Waqf Board’s work, besides ensuring the efficient management of the Waqf properties.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which proposes around 40 amendments to the existing Waqf Act, 1995 (amended in 2013), was referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), following intense debate in the Lower House of Parliament. The majority citizens surveyed wants Waqf Act to be amended in such a way that the process for resolving property disputes goes through the various courts in India –district courts, high courts and Supreme Court – instead of the Waqf Tribunal.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The concept of waqf in India dates back to the Delhi Sultanate, with early examples including Sultan Muizuddin Sam Ghaor’s (Muhammad Ghori) dedication of villages to the Jama Masjid of Multan. The Mussalman Waqf Act of 1923 marked the first attempt to regulate it. In independent India, the Waqf Act was first passed by Parliament in 1954. It was replaced by a new Waqf Act in 1995, which gave more power to waqf boards. The accretion of power has been accompanied by an increase in complaints of encroachment and illegal lease and sale of waqf properties. In 2013, the Act was amended, conferring unlimited powers on waqf boards to claim properties in the name of Muslim charity. The amendments made the sale of waqf properties impossible, as neither the mutawwali (custodian) nor the waqf board has rights to sell a waqf property.

Waqf refers to properties dedicated exclusively for religious or charitable purposes under Islamic law. Once designated as waqf, ownership is transferred from the person making the waqf (waqif) to Allah, making it irrevocable. These properties are managed by a mutawwali, appointed by the waqif or a competent authority.Waqf refers to the properties which are dedicated exclusively to religious or charitable purposes under Islamic law.

Currently, the Waqf Boards control 8.7 lakh properties that span 9.4 lakh acres across the country having an estimated value of ₹1.2 lakh crore, as per official records. India has the largest waqf holding worldwide, with the Waqf Board being the largest landowner in the country, after the Armed Forces and the Indian Railways. There are 32 waqf boards, including two Shia waqf boards in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
